Beginstheman
I love this guy, Downey is great. He reminds me a lot of Langdon, and he was one of my favourite.Although Downey doesn't produce high numbers he's out there punishing guys who are punishing our little guys like Koivu. Lot's of strength in this guy, glad to see his noggin is better. I agree, Aaron Downey sure now reminds me a lot of big Darren Langdon (one of my favorites when he was a Hab). I was a little skeptical when we first signed him and when I heard that he lost his last 2-3 fights while in St-Louis, but since then he sure proved critics wrong just by the energy he brings to the game. BTW, great pwning on Jason Smith that was!

Guest thunder1711
Can the free pass from his buddy from Dallas( Head coach Guy) stop already? Aaron can't skate in today's NHL and he proves it every shift. He falls over while trying to chip the puck out, he's so slow out there it hurts and he has far below average hands to boot. And oh ya he's 32. People love that he can fight but so can several other people on the team. The 4th line sucks this year and Aaron's not the answer. He's been far better then Murray, and he's really the only choice we have... I suppose we could call up Lapierre and sit both Downey and Murray. Guest habs_fan1160
I love downney, I"ve said it before and I'll say it again, he's great. He reminds me a lot of Langdon who I loved too. He's bringing big hits to the ice and strength. I like having him there because I've noticed that there isn't too many people picking on Koivu, Ryder etc with him on the ice. Hurray for Downey, this guy has heart. Guest habs_fan1160
I hate seeing this guy sit out of games, he brings such outstanding power to our team. He's the biggest physical aspect on the Habs.
LesBoys
Id like to see him in the place of murray on friay. And its time for downey to give it a go yo I think we needed the Physical presense of Downey on Sat night, we were lifeless out there in the 2nd and 3rd, I know Souray had a good fight but Downey would have been able to change the momentum early in the 2nd rather than late in the third. I would rather see Downey out there over Murray any day, at least when Downey is out there you know he's there - with Murray he's silent until he gives the puck away. But yeah, I think I would rather see him in the line-up than Murray.

Yep, I think you're right. He's better in almost every aspect than Murray. Maybe not by much, but he is better enough to notice. I do think Murray can score a little more than Downey, but thats not what they are both here for... BTW, how many goals did each player score for us last year? I would like to know. He's the biggest physical aspect on the Habs. No way girl, the biggest physical aspects are Bégin and Komi, they lead in throwing hits. Aaron has heart yes, but everything he does is dropping the gloves, and even there he loses from time to time...

Yeah I agree, no disrespect to Murray in any way but I think Downey is a more well rounded all around better player. I can't get enough of Downey on the ice. I respectively disagree If it weren't for the Dallas connection ( BG, Carbo, Muller ) he probably wouldn't be employed in Montreal let alone the NHL

I hate to keep comparing him to Langdon but that's really who he reminds me of, style, grit etc. I like having a guy on our team that brings grit.
