Guest NBHab
In my opinion, the next Captain of the Habs. A great leader with tons of heart and someone who wears the CH with great pride. Probably, my favorite Hab.
Guest JL
The most improved player last year. I was thinking that with the new rules, he'd be in big trouble but he had his best season thus far. I love his grit!
Guest NBHab
He adapted really well. Koivu's not the only heart of this club. This guy's got a big one.
Guest zachary-jean
I was walking to get food after class this morning and I looked in the window of a coffee shop (I tend to look in windows) and saw a guy who looked EXACTLY like Rivet. It took three takes before I realized it wasn't him and just some dude staring back at me looking really creeped out.
hockey_gal89
IMO-pound-for-pound, Rivet is one of the most rated D-men in the NHL. He believes in this team and its traditions and plays heart, grit and an amazing work ethic. He's a true leader.
flames4eva
Solid leader on and off the ice... a keeper on defense bw6
Guest cup crazy88
he is decent, but for some reason i can't by the "hype" of him being so underated. Personnally under value or not, he is getting overpaid certainly.. Im glad to see he had a better season offensively last yr, but his defense is still somewhat question to me... i mean i trust him on a shift to shift basis but im not sure if i would put him mon the ice with 2 mins to go in the 3rd and were up by 1... Good leader, but i don't think he'll ever captain the Habs, i guess decent enough all round, but no real strong suit that stands out.. also lets a few bad breakout passes go, more then most Dmen on the Habs, but still get's the job done.. iunno i got pretty mixed opinions on him lol... Guest KOIVU#11
Rivet definetly holds a lot of pride and does wear the CH good and maybe one day will be the captain. However he takes too many stupid penalties which makes me mad sometimes. But I guess everyone has their bad qualities. He's definatly improving but he still has a longgg way to go yet. Makal22
I like the guy, but I think he should be replaced by Streit (or Bouillon when he returns) b/c he is just too slow for me... He just doesn't have enough talent in my books. Souray - Markov/Dandenault Komi - Dandenault/Markov Niinima - Streit
fourtrax
Tough as nails, great character guy, lots of heart, a team leader ... but under-talented for what he's often asked to do, and definitely on the slow side.
habs-24
rivet and souray cant be paired together they are just to slow, and i mean that game in buffalo was a prime example

jigger-1
I have the utmost respect for Carbonneau, but can someone explain to me why this guy is on the power-play? He simply can't hold the puck at the blue line and other teams know this. He gets caught and is slow. I have nothing against Rivet killing penalties but what in the world is he doing on the pp with 2 minutes left in the game last night. He had a bad game and I though Ninimaa or Streit should've been on the ice well ahead of him. Is anyone seeing something I'm not?

I think I know what play you have in mind from last night, and it was Kovalev's fault, Kovalev was stick handling around the half boards, there 2 guys on Rivet (the last man back) and Kovalev just threw him the puck. jigger-1
It wasn't just that play. It was numerous times he had the puck at the blue line and looked like he had no idea what to do with it. I wouldn't say that for just one play. It was also in the other games. He just doesn't make his plays with the puck fast enough (lateral passes to the other point man and shots) and keeps getting caught. From what I'm seeing anyway. I used to really not like Rivet until last year. He was a new player last year, but so far I'm seeing the old Rivet from 3 years ago. I don't know. He just has tons of heart and desire but man, he's not exaclty playing well out there.

As for a ton of heart and desire but not playing well out there... it's an improvement on the guys who have NO heart and NO desire and who AREN'T playing well out there. and I'm sure you can figure out who those players are. So far this yr he has looked shaky to me from from what i have seen (in all situations, not just the PP). Bad outlet passes from the defensive zone, caught out of position, can't handle a pass etc etc.. This is way i was thinking earlier on when the habs got niinimaa that if push comes to shove, rivet might b the odd man out on the blueline.. Sure you want a guy who is a leader, shows heart, but when it comes right down to it you need first and formost to have the skills to go with it on the ice... Guest maad
rivet's been always one of my favorite habs. i think they should put him back with markov, and play souray with komi, just like it used to be.

Guest habsrule_10
I think Rivet is the second best defenceman on this team (behind Markov). Rivet is very effective at getting the puck out of defensive zone and plays as physical a game as is allowed under the new NHL rules. I also agree that he is the leader on the D. I have never understood the lack of respect for him by fans??
