Guest mateus
Ya, similar offensive skill, but Plekanek brings better defense and a far better attitude. It took him a little while to find his groove, but I think he should be a solid #2 center for years to come. no offense to pleks but he makes an OK #2 center...hed make a great #3 however! -Matt

It's not a knock on Ribs, but Plekanec has been a much better value at 450,00 for us then Ribs, Plekanec is a better all around player.

Plekanek will have a real shot at being a point per game player next season, that is great for a #2 center. Grabs may need to move to the wing if everyone else pans out and Koivu stays. Hope he also has success in the playoffs

At least Rivet never said he was happy Montreal never made the playoffs  Seems there was a bit of bitterness here though.

Guest CanadianMike
Just when you think you can forget what a jerk this guy was...he opens his mouth again. I never liked him and I am sorry to the friends I have here that like him. He is the reason I do not want the Stars to win the cup (as much as I like guys like Modano and others ). Sure he can think it (like I am sure most players do after they are traded)...but to say it in an interview? JERK!

fourtrax
Once again, I'm not sure what the fuss is about. He was upset and shocked to be traded, and very understandably felt a bit of vindication and satisfaction when the team that traded him missed the playoffs. Tell me you wouldn't have the same reaction if you were in Ribeiro's shoes. It seems like hypocrisy is the guiding principle of hockey these days. Think those terrible thoughts all you want, but just don't say them, because gosh, that's wrong.

When you do...you are hated by millions...Avery/Roenick/Ribeiro. Maybe Ribs could work hard on the ice and open his big fat mouth after he lifts the cup...no? Until then zip it homeboy. Even Rivet has come forward and said how nice it is to be in the playoffs. He lead Dallas in points and shooting percentage this year. He's in the playoffs, and we're not; he makes a valid point. fourtrax
yes it is. As a pro hockey player you can't just shoot your mouth like that. And then people wonder why hockey players give the blandest, most boring interviews. Nowhere is it written in stone that you can't express an opinion about the team that traded you. What did Ribeiro say that was so terrible? That he was shocked to be traded, and so found himself rooting against the Habs for the first time in his life? Admitting that once the sting subsides, he'll probably cheer for them again in the future? For shame, Ribeiro! Why reply honestly to questions from the media when you can just give 110%, take it one game at a game, be happy to contribute, etc. etc. from the Big Book of Hockey Clichés. When you do...you are hated by millions...Avery/Roenick/Ribeiro. Well, Roenick was a damn good player in his day, and the other two are doing great jobs on playoff teams, while our Habs are getting ready for the golf course. Who's the winner here? Maybe Ribs could work hard on the ice and open his big fat mouth after he lifts the cup...no? 18 goals, 41 assists for 59 points and a +3 rating in the regular season. I think he's been working plenty hard. Dallas doesn't seem to have any complaints. And why does he have to be hoisting the Cup before he's able to give an honest opinion about his former team? What does one have to do with the other?

I am sure that every player that gets traded hopes his former team misses the playoffs so he can turn around and say "Ha, you needed me." At least he's honest about it and didn't spit out a bunch of tired old cliches like "it was time for a change".
crognalsen
I think Dallas won this trade, but one day he will thank the Habs for sending him to a better enviroment for him to succeed. It's very possible that it might not have happened in Montreal as certain players do better on certain teams and in certain situations.
Guest habs_fan1160
just forget it...you are NOT getting my point! I get your point. I think it's shocking how many people support the players who leave the Habs and then backstab/bad mouth the team and the city. If you claim you love the team and the city of Montreal you certainly wouldn't defend anyone who slammed it. If I came on here and started a thread "Montreal Sucks - glad they didn't make the playoffs," it'd be closed it a heartbeat. I'd be accused of Flaming. But a so-called Pro player can say it and people support it. For crying out loud, support the Habs and the city - if not then go and buy some Dallas jerseys and support them.
