Guest TORHABSFAN
I personnaly thin Ribero is going to be Huge this season!!! I am looking for a big improvement this year. The only question for me is.. Id he better off with Kovalev and Samsonov... who everyone seems this line up should be huge. or with Latandresse and Johnson since Gui and Ribs worked magic in preseason. either way I have high expectations of Ribero this year. Come on Ribs make your fellow Pork Chop Proud!!!!!! GO RIBS GO! GO HABS GO!! PORTUGAL BABY!!!!

Guest Leafasaurus-rex_Fan
Care to explain, as it seems like a free shot with no reasonning behind it? Just don't like him and he should make way for some real talent, like Andrei Kostitsyn, I know they play different positions.

Guest Keith
I know.... But I was closer than the people that said it would be his best year Montreal.... It is though, we got rid of his useless ***. He will probably play in Dallas now that he isn't big, and put up 70 points. >=|

gracie12
Wow, was I wrong. I thought Gainey actually liked him: wrong! I thought he was safe from trade rumors for at least a couple of months: wrong! I thought if he did get traded, he would be worth more on the open market than some had suggested: wrong! LOL. Anyway - i wish him well. Theres no question he did some stupid things when he was a hot-shot kid, but who hasnt? He's slowly maturing & I just hope this trade doesnt come back to bite us. Either way, I think the squad we have now is more competitive (this year, anyway) and this trade certainly helps our logjam at centre AND our ailing defense. I have a feeling niinimaa will bounce back. At 31 he's not exactly ancient It would have been nice to get a prospect in the deal though...those always give a little more 'intangible' aspects to a trade. Should be interesting to see if there will be followup trades (d-men once everyone is healthy?).
Guest Hoser
I like getting rid of Ribeiro a LOT, and here's why: with him as our 2nd line center, we were never going to get anywhere. Plekanec was already capable of doing better as our 2nd line center, but the problem is we couldn't put Ribeiro off the second line because he doesn't have the requiset defensive abilities or grit for a 3rd or 4th line position. As a result, we couldn't use Plekanec to his fullest abilities, and that also meant that Bonk was stuck on the 4th line when he should have been on our 3rd line. This created a lot of obvious problems that getting rid of Ribeiro fixes. Another thing is that Ribeiro was way, way to slow for the 2nd line. Samsonov is incredibly fast and Kovalev is not slouch either, there was no way he could keep up and they'd have a lot of trouble staying on side; Plekanec is an incredibly fast skater and has no trouble keeping up with the other two. He's also a lot better defensivly and he's gritty, which helps since his linemates aren't. Definatly happy to see him go.

Im totally in agreement with your assessment of what NOT having ribs means to team dynamics. Im just sad (and still, a little surprised) we couldnt get more for a guy who scores 50-60pts for 2 straight seasons... but i guess the "downside" of his game is just too great at this stage

Guest habs_fan1160
Ohh I forgot, Eric Lindros. Mike and Eric on the same team. This gives me even more reason to dislike Dallas. I think Mike fits in good with Dallas aka Away from MTL.
