Sure but when he was on the ice, the opposing team scored 30 goals? What was his +- -29 or something horrible, near the bottom in the nhl if i remember correctly,

He has a accurate quick release shot..

not the best stickhandler, not the best hitter, not the quickest, not the hardest shot, doesnt work the hardest,

Kind of reminds me of a feild goal kicker ?

He wasn't the only guy on our team with a poor plus minus, and I do agree he needs to work on parts of his game.

But if he is working hard on them, and scoring 30 a season while doing so, he has a spot on my team for sure !!!

He had a rough first pre-season game, people can't judge him by that, because next thing you know he will fire home a 2 goal game and suddenly everyone in here will love him again.

Its one game, and the same reason people said not to get excited about Kovalev's one game, is the same reason people shouldn't be throwing stones at Ryder for his. He has 2 weeks of hockey to get in form, and I believe he will do just fine.

Sorry JL... I will be more careful with future posts... I've been on the forum for a few years, but have not posted much, so hopefully I can learn by my mistakes!

@ the same time, im hoping he doesnt have that good of year, as i dont want us to be paying too much for this guy next season...

Yeah, we wouldn't want our leading goal scorer to do too well for us, we might just make the payoffs. Besides, we have lots of other players who can score for us if he doesn't.

Esentially my hope for Ryder is that he has a career year this season...And eventually scores 40+ goals some season...Wherever he ends up

Agreed, but hopefully it will be in a Habs uniform.

Would you resign for the habs????

If I was Ryder, I would rather play in a low profile Hockey town ...

Why are people so mean?

I love my Ryder hat and hope he has a great year, he doesnt have to show me anything pre-season... just like koivu or kovalev... and markov and hamrlik on D.

Pre-season is for young guys always have been.

This is Ryder's contract year, so you had better believe he knows that he has to perform or else his UFA stock will drop. As he rounds into form -- and don't be alarmed by one subpar preseason game, folks -- he will start producing. I really hope has a career year, because regardless of what happens in the offseason, a productive Ryder will help us win more games.

That is my hope as well...Ultimately It'd be nice to see him hit 40/40...but carrer highs in all categories is just as good ;)

Why would Ryder leave because of the vandalism? The property referred to was in Newfoundland, not Montreal. No one in Montreal has done anything. There's no reason to blame this vandalism on Montrealers or Canadiens fans.

Bet you there is more Habs fan in Newfoundland than in San Jose ... He wouldnt have the pressure he does here in Mtl.. wouldnt be in the papers eveyrday ... subjected to all the whining...

I guarantee you it wouldnt happen as you would never hear from Ryder THAT much.

Medias are all about hockey in canada... we have die-hard fans.

the Habs isnt just about Montreal you know...

On the lighter side, Ryder was interviewed on CJAD and he was saying that he's playing goal in street hockey and they won the provincials this summer, going to the nationals next year! He said that he loves playing goal and he would, in a pinch, wear the pads for the Canadiens if both goalies got injured! :D

Here's an idea for bg: sign ryder for 4+ mil long term, instead of losing him and offering a similar player 5+mil..

We can't negotiate with him until January now, and Gainey has a policy not to negotiate contracts during the season. If there are any contract negotiations, it will be after the season, until July 1st.

Ryder hasn't really done much this camp has he?

Nothing to be concerned about. He's always been a streaky player and pre-season means absolutely nothing. It's not like he's fighting for a roster spot! :D

Which veteran , other than Kovalev's one game, has ?

Fact is Ryder is on a one year contract .

If he wants more, or similar money next year , from Montreal or another team, he has to produce at least the same as last year , point wise .

The plus / minus is for another discussion :P
