........we lose cuz Carbo opts to go with freakin Ryder??

and by the way, Huets left knee is hurt, and i beleive that is the knee he tore last season during the lockout, 3 million well spent

Montreal didn't lose because of whom Carbo selected for the shootout .

If that's the case, here's Aebischer's chance to show what he's got

I love Ryder but he is horrible at break-a-ways...He has no moves. He skates in like a stiff and tries a weak deke or misses the net on a shot everytime...Personally I think the lineup should go Perezhogin Kovy Saku...Ryer did have a good game tonight tho so we should layoff him just bc of the shootout

Amen to that. Well said.

Who knows what to do on a shootout anyway....shoot, deke? (hurry, you only have a split second to decide...hurry...good luck...hurry...)

Too bad. Wrong choice.

I guessed Ryder would score the first goal, and I was right. He played a good game, and collected 2 well deserved points. Good effort too.

It's the first game I get to watch him play this year. Boy does he ever look in shape! Where's that round face? He's slim, skate really well and distributes bodychecks like Bégin! I'm very impressed...

Ryder played a heck of a game. I do agreee however that he should never take another shootout again in this season. All of his points come from the slot in heavey traffic areas. He has a quick release and that is his strength. Leave the SO to those who can do it. I am a very huge Ryder fan but Shoot outs is probally his biggest weakness.

True, Ryder is in perfect shape, he's faster AND stronger + he had 2 points in the first game! He's gonna have the best season of his career (he improves every season anyways...) That man is soon to be a star. 5 stars rating for the thread!

Ryder played very well last night. He skated hard, got two points, was a plus two and had the most hits on the team with three. He will have a career year this year. The shootout was a bust, I agree, but I still think he has the ability there.

And, you are right - he is looking to be in great shape. His face is so thin - he looks completely different than last year.

Good start for Ryder, everyone on the first line and Huet!

He was a Leafs fan. I don't know if everyone in Bonavista was for the Habs when he is was growing up, but is likely that they all are now. As for whether he will want to play with the Habs - well, he seems to be under a microscope in Montreal (as are most of the players), and that must be hard. Also, I would be a bit annoyed, if I was him, that he had to seek arbitration this year while Ribeiro, for example, was given a big raise. He has been one of the top three players on the team, in my opinion, in each of the last two years, and his salary still does not reflect that (in view of the other salaries paid in Montreal). He is not given a lot of ice time - I understand that he does not play on the penalty kill, but given his propensity to score on the power play, why was Kovalev sent out on the 5 on 3 in his place last night, for example?

Maybe this does not matter to Ryder. He seems to be a team player - he thrived under Julien, who gave him a chance to play, but I don't see that Gainey appreciates his worth.

Anyway, who knows? I doubt if he has any particular loyalty to Montreal, and I can't say I would blame him. If a better salary was offered somewhere else, why would he stay? For the fan adoration?

Traditionally, from what I understand from my trip to Newfoundland a few years ago, Newfoundlanders have always been cheering for the Leafs in majority.

However, I think Michael may be bringing a wind of change to Canada's youngest province :D

I don't think the"majority" goes for the Leafs. It's really only the Original Six. I know more Hab fans than Leaf fans here.

I Loved seeing Ryder score!... Glad Carbo gave him another chance. That is why he is coach and we are not. It made my night! way to go Ryder! Carbo should go with six shooters. have them practice a lot. and depending On who is having a good game - go with them....

he is getting 70-75 points this year ---

that was an awesome finish!

Admit it guys. How many of you were cussing(or at least mad) when you saw Ryder being sent out in the SO?

I know I was :D

Not me, lol. I was kind of so-so when I saw Kovy come on the ice. Ironically, he hit the post ....again. That angered me.
