Let's hope he doesn't re-enter the draft like Mikus..

I don't think he'd be able to re-enter the draft, I think if Montreal can't sign him by June 1st of 2008 then we lose his rights making him an unrestricted free agent

EMELIN CLOSE TO SIGNING?!

CJAD SPORTS HAS LEARNED Alexei Emelin is close to agreeing to a multi-year deal with the Canadiens, and making the jump to the NHL. Emelin and the Canadiens have reached a financial agreement, according to agent Todd Diamond. All that remains is for Emelin to agree to the commitment to come to North America.

WOOT! This is great news. Hopefully this is true, and if it is, we'll probably see one of our guys from the farm (likely O'Byrne), or Emelin himself join the Habs this year.

man that would be amazing. We definently need some more muscle on defense, Anaheim showed us this year what a powerful fast defense can do.

I really hope this deal works out. The sooner we get him signed and in Canada the more he'll be prepared to play in the NHL.

Best case senario, we get him to sign this weekend and when it gets closer to the fall Andrei Markov can take him under his wing and introduce him to the North American game. I really see this guy being an awesome player in a few years and he could easily fill the hole that Dandenault or Souray will open up.

When he does come to North America it will only be for him to play in the AHL, similar to A. Kostitsyn.

maybe not, he plays that physical type of north american game and if he gose to hamilton we will see him getting called up 100%. his gonna be a good player

This is great news. Just wondering though, if he's still under contract with russia and these negotiations are going on, What does that mean for his russian team. Is he pulling a malkin or does this mean he's reached an agreement with them as well?

He has one more year under contract with Lada. This is why I'm awaiting an official word before I get too excited.

I doubt that you'd see both in the CH next year, but 1 is sure possible.
