Recommended Posts

i used to learn russina long time ago, but i don't remember much.

i checked the link, but i'm not sure if i understood it correct.

emelin said montreal talked to him, but he already had contract in russia. asked about out clause he said he didn't want to talk about details in his russian contract.

anybody can confirm this? kerzhakov11?

but, when emelin said he wouldn't like to talk about details in his contract (when asked about out clause) does it mean there's such a thing in his contract? if there's no out clause, wouldn't he said that?

HORRIBLE NEWS!!!!

* Alexei Emelin has signed a brand new 2-year contract with Russian Super League team, AK Bars Kazan.

http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/default.asp?...7&id=261926

the 21- summer defender team Russia and tol'yattinskoy "harmonies" Aleksey yemelin in the following season will appear in "Ak panther", reports the correspondent of "Soviet sport" Pavel LYSENKOV. - Kazantsy have long ago begun to conduct with me negotiations, even to the championship of peace, described Yemelin in the interview with our correspondent. - I here a question finally was resolved: I placed signature under the two-year-old contract with the "panthers". Me invited "Montreal", which also proposed agreement. But Canadians turned themselves to me more lately, when 4 it already reached agreement s "Ak by panther". Is there in me point in the agreement, according to which I can leave in NKHL through the season? He would not want to reveal the detail of contract. It will be there evidently. Now 4 - player "Ak panther" I think only about this command.

It's also reported on the official AK Bars Kazan website.

maybe he'll play one year in kazan' and then go to montreal ?

i don't know, we don't have much time... we drafted him in 2004, i think we got one more year to sign him, or he can come back to the draft

Maybe Gainey should try to start doing some contracts during the season instead of waiting til the last minute and hoping for the best.

It is pretty difficult for Gainey if he did not know that the team was approaching Emelin before the World Championships. Oh well stuff happens. It is time to move on especially if this guy is going to re-enter the draft at the end of the contract. You win some, you lose some. At least Gainey got Valentenko.

One of the worst things for us was for this guy to chicken out on north american hockey. Great. I had so much respect for gainey before this. There's no getting around this one, Gainey tripped up.

I agree, you can complain about management all you want but they can't babysit their prospects all day long and pray that another team, in the prospects own country doesn't start waiving big money at them to stay.

If its true that they started talking to Emelin before the WJC you would think he would tell Gainey he has had another offer to at least see where he stood with the Habs. Maybe Gainey would have pushed harder but if what we have been told is true, the Habs have been trying hard to get Valetenko and Emelin over here since last season. So it's not like they drafted Emelin and just never got back to him. Not Gaineys fault Emelin decided to follow his pocketbook.

How can you say he tripped up? He made an offer and the player made the decision to take the other contract. How is that BG's fault? If you want to blame anything blame the lack of a player transfer agreement.

wow that really is disappointing news. my only consolation is that he wouldn't talk about the 'out' clause. i can cross my fingers in any case.

ak bars is a great team and they'll certainly help his game a lot. i guess that's an upside.

i don't suppose he can leave during the season? i'd be surprised if he stayed another two years in russia but then again, ak bars has a lot of money. he's probably getting paid more there than here. any details on the numbers?

He got into negociations a bit too late. AK Bars started negociating with Emelin after the WJC. What is Gainey's philosophy again? I do not negociate contracts during the season.

Really? When did he re-sign Koivu again? That's right during the 05/06 seasonnot after. And AK Bars started negotiating after the World Championships not the World Juniors.

Still he hadn't signed and it's an offer, Emelin is the one who made the decision to sign with AK Bars. How is it BG's fault?

i'm confused. i thought the original report said that ak bars started negotiations BEFORE the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS not after the world juniors.

can anyone clarify? there's a big time lag there and the habs were busy missing the playoffs right before the worlds...

Marc Defoy and Francois Gagnon reported tonight on TV that Emelin had an agent that was negociating with Bob Gainey, and one that was negociating with the russian team and while a deal was pretty much in place with the Habs he decided to stay in Russia. The story should be in tomorrows newspaper..

Gainey made a special exception in Koivu's case because Koivu is the captain and leader of this team. His normal policy is to wait until the off-season to re-sign players.

We are beating a dead horse here. I do not blame Gainey as much as I blame Emelin. It is obvious his heart is still in Russia. He is not ready to come over or he would have had his agent work with Montreal. That's my opinion. It is disappointing but at least Valentenko is signed and is coming over.

Why are we blaming Emilin for anything? He is a young man that is a professional hockey player, that will be making big bucks and gets to play in his own country. How can that be wrong? What about what he wants? What about his best interests? As you say his heart is still in Russia. When he's ready he'll be in the NHL might not be a Habs uniform but in the NHL.

Look if this guy wanted to stay in Russia that's fine. But why enter the draft if your not totally committed to come over here. That to me is a punk move.
