I do think that if he does have a good camp this year, he might be able to make it to the big club considering he is 20 years old. I mean from wht i've seen he is better then Latendresse in all aspect sof the game except for body checks, anbd he made it at 19. I could see us going with 3 offensive lines this year. (I just fitted all our present players who will be under contract, i know we won't go this young!)

Latendresse-Koivu-Ryder

Higgins-Plekanec-Kovalev

S.Kostitsyn-Grabovski-A.Kostitsyn

Begin-Chipchura-Lapierre

A year with the Dogs wouldn't hurt and probably be best, but if he really stands out we might have to find a place for him!

Switch Higgins with Lats and that would be pretty good.

Also, it might be interesting to put S. Kosti on the 3rd line and keep the Pleks-Higgy-A Kosti line together.

With this lineup up front we could use all our money to sign huge name defencemen...We'd be able to overpay Timonen and/or Rafalski for 2 years each.

Yeah, I like the idea of getting a defenseman.

How about Teppo? We could get Numinnen for a reasonable amount. No need to overpay. And Numinnen is much steadier than Rafalski.

Not really the thread to discuss it...but I would imagine with Numinnen it is either the Sabres or retirement.

Ive seen him play a couple times in the O, and he looks phenomenal. He had the most assists in the entire CHL this year, can put the puck in the net himself, and looks good one on one. This kid could be special, glad to hear he was locked up for 3 years. It would be great to see him with his brother and Grabovski all on the same line. The are all Belerussians if Im mot mistaken. Didnt work with Kovy And Sammy, but the second time will hopefully be a charm

He is amazing. He will do great will Montreal for the first few years. Then the press will start putting him down and he wont play good. Then we have to trade him because he hates Montreal. Its whats happening to Kovalev, Sammy and all the other europe players.

Anyone care to speculate on his chances of winning a roster spot with the CH this coming season? :)

I see it all coming down to the salary cap situation. I don't think he's in the immediate plans of management, but if things come down to letting Bonk and Johnson walk, with spots opened by Samsonov and Perezhogin going unfilled, he could be a cheap fix. He'd have to have a stellar camp though, with defensive guys like Chipchura et al already with AHL experience.

Doubtful, he couldn't even crack the Bulldogs roster. On this team, up front we already have:

Ryder (3 years)

?Streit(2 years) - if he plays forward

Pleks (2 years)

Higgy (2 years)

Lats (1 year)

Lapierre (<1 year)

Kostitsyn (<1 year)

Murray (2ish years)

That is a lot of inexperience. We just can't bring up that many rookies, and I'd think Grabvoski, Locke, even Chippy have the edge.

actually, if you're talking about at the beginning of the season, Bob sent him to the juniors so that he could "dominate". Now if you were talking about the Bulldogs right now, i guess Lever doesn't want to mess with a winning formula. "Don't try to fix what is not broken".

PS: If he plays good enough during training camp, he'll make the team.

He couldn't be sent to Hamilton at the beginning of the season, it was here or juniors.

But I'm just saying that if there was someone who had a legitimate shot at making the NHL out of camp next year, wouldn't an AHL team find room for him?

Actually, he could have been sent to Hamilton. He was drafted by the Habs before he was drafted by the London Knights so there was 3 choices: Here (NHL), Hamilton (AHL) or London (juniors)

Oh really? I didn't realize that, I suppose it makes sense that the junior thing is only if the junior team has his rights first. Thanks.

So Bob sent young Kostitsyn to London so that he could rip up the league... and he did.

Are you talking about other europe players like Markov?

Let's forget about Kovalev and Samsonov and focus on the bright future ahead for Sergei Kostitsyn. I know I am getting ahead of myself, but I am dying to see a Kostitsyn-Grabovski-Kostitsyn line lace up for the CH in a few years!

we all are weeping ;) I am looking forward to the preseason games I'm going to. Usually they have a good numbe rof the rookies at these so I am looking forward to seeing Kostistyn in action

Id love to see Kosti wearing the number 15 for the Habs this coming season. That would mean that our current number 15 is gone...
