Why did you have to write it? Why? Now I won't be able to convince myself that he is not ready to avoid deception!

Seriously, I surely hope he does the team right away like the management agreed to do with a less talented but québécois player.

Anyway, I'll cross my fingers. * Ouch, this hurts *

I totally agree, if Latendresse was able to make the team with his performance during training camp why should Sergie do it if he has an equivalant performance or better. Sadly, he could be the best player at training camp by a million miles, and probably still wouldnt make the team.

From the Habs website

Making a strong case for himself as the steal of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft after being selected 200th overall, Sergei Kostitsyn has since been busy setting the OHL ablaze with the London Knights. The younger brother of Habs winger Andrei Kostitsyn, Sergei followed up his 78-point rookie OHL campaign by exploding for 131 points and a team-high 91 assists in 2006-07. The speedy winger also represented his native Belarus on the international stage at the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Impressive. But let's not kid ourselves, he cant use his body like that in the NHL. I'm looking forward to seeing his aptitudes on the big men's ice. He will definitely start in Hamilton though.

Why would you say he'll definitely start in Hamilton? Wasnt Latendresse given the chance to play with the Big Club because of his performance in the pre-season? If Sergie Kostitsyn performs just as well as Lats did or even better why shouldnt he join the big club? I personally think that Kostitsyn has way more potential and way more talents than Latendresse does, so if he does perform in pre-season, I see no reason for him to not join the team, especially when what we need right now is offense and a lot of it.

I think that video was shown, to demonstrate how physical he can be, because people still claim that he doesnt play a physical game, Kostitsyn is tough and understands both aspects of the game, If he performs above the expectations of the coaching staff during the preseason I see no reason for him to be sent back to Hamilton, in fact, I think if one player can actually make an impression during training camp, its Sergie.

Yes, but is has always been clear that Gainey and Carbo had a thing for Latendresse. Carbo even went so far as to say that if Guillaume made the big team, he wouldnt go back. Perezhogin wasnt entirely wrong when he spoke about him. Latendresse was given a chance that other rookies dont get for many more years.

I would never compare a rookie's chance with Latendresse's. The later was treated like Gillett's own son. The rest need to sweat in Hamilton for 1-3 years.

This is off topic but latendresse would have had to go back to junior which would have hurt him in the long run. He's a power forward which is what we've wanted for so long.

Sergei on the other hand is a quick, speedy winger that we've got up the ying yang. If you can't tell by how late we drafted him, I don't think many people thought he'd be as good as he really is. Just like his brother tho, i think bringing him up sooner than later will pay off in spades.

He'll start there for sure but he'll be looking to steal a roster spot from any veteran who fails to perform.

Kovy *cough* Kovy *cough*

Excuse me.

It's a win, win situation for the Habs having them in the system I think.

It really is, I cant wait to see them on the same line. Nobody knows their style better than who they grew up with. You cant beat brother to brother chemistry.

The good thing is that they can throw the words "politeness" and "sportsman like conduct" out the window in regards to each other. If Sergei screws up his bigger brother can punch his face in.

Remember when Valeri Bure was supposed to be better than his brother Pavel?

Actually, I remember Valerei's rookie season when he broke in with the habs (95-96). NO ONE at that time ever said he was going to be better than his brother. As a matter of fact most hockey pundits at that time more oft than not referred to Valerei as a poor man's Pavel Bure. He was the: "Pocket Russian Rocket" and not much more.

however if Sergei Kostitsyn puts up Valerei Bure in his prime type numbers, I would be far from disappointed. About 22 goals, 41 assists...That's respectable.
