Guest sportsfreak_39
Yes its understandbale that junior numbers could be misleading and some people cant make the jump to the pro level. but as of right now, what more can you ask of him. Guest natey2k4
I wouldn't get too carried away by Sergei's numbers in London. Schremp, Bolland, and Hunter put up huge numbers there last year, and they haven't done much at the pro level so far. Also, he is being outscored on the same team by two guys who are 2 years younger than he is. A lot of it is due to the system the team employs. Firstly, Nash averages about 3 PTS in every 4 GP.. that's nothing to laugh about. Perry is going to score about 55 PTS in his rookie season.. not getting top line playing time. Both guys still have the potential (21 years old and 22 years old respectively) to put up 82 PTS in 82 GP.. Both are good hockey players. And if Kostitsyn can come in and score 60-70 PTS a year, he's done more than what most teams (including us) thought he could as he was drafted in like the 7th round. jonutoxt
Sergei Kostitsyn not only is a great playmaker and scorer. He hits well too, he works hard. The kid plays the point on the powerplay because of his wicked shots. Now get this, he plays the penalty kill. He's used as the forward in London's 5-on-3 situations. And, once, in overtime, he scored a goal, shorthanded 5-on-3.
beckham_mtl
Rick Nash was in his second NHL season, and a 41 goal scorer when he was the same age as Kostitsyn is now. He was also 6-3, 230 pounds or so. Cory Perry is about the same size and was OHL scoring champ at the same age. You can't compare Kostitsyn to them in any way. He is much closer to Schremp or Bolland in size and style.
Guest WantMoreCups
Kostitsyn is well rounded and plays a good style of hockey. I think his gonna be pretty good at the nhl level.

And right now, he is the top scoring import player in either the OHL or the entire CHL itself. And you forget this, Where were Rick Nash and Corey Perry picked? What about Schremp and Bolland? I'm pretty sure not the 7th round. So for a 7th round pick to be a key part of the London Knights, a top point producer in the league. The player they rely on in 5-on-3 situations. A clutch player for one of the better teams in the OHL. I'd say that's far exceeding the expectations for a 7th round pick.

beckham_mtl
I didn't say that Kostitsyn wasn't playing well for a 7th round draft pick, just that his numbers are somewhat inflated by the system he plays in London. He won't match Robbie Schremp's numbers from a year ago, nor Dave Bolland's in all probability. Neither of those two look like they are about to step into the NHL as top 6 players in the near future. Schremp is going to be on the bubble for the forseeable future, and Bolland will likely make it as a defensive specialist. If Kostitsyn moves to left wing, and is willing to work on his two way game, then he has a decent shot at regular NHL duty, but it will take some time and I can't see him being a big scorer at the NHL level. He is not that different from Duncan Milroy at the same stage. Milroy scored at a comparable rate as an 18 year old, and had an even more impressive playoff run than Kostitsyn did last year. Guest shanahan1024
The Knights are in the second period right now and Kostitsyn has 1 goal and 3 assists and London is winning 6-2. He has 3 PP points I mean how do you stop him, Kane and Gagner.
Guest WantMoreCups
Well we should try to draft 1 of those guys so wen they move to the big club they will have some cemestry (we would have to trade for a lower draft number but awwell!) lol
Guest shanahan1024
if the habs want one of em they gotta draft top 5 and if we wanna top 5 pick prepare to trade our 1st rounder and probably Perezhogin and Danis and a 2nd round pick next year. I know those two are good but there both small both under 6'0 thats not what we need, I dont think Gagner is gonna have as good as a career as Kane will.
