I'm trying to be realistic. It's easy to get carried away about prospects when you're a fan of a particular team. If we could go back and see the stuff that was written about a lot of players who didn't amount to much over the years, you would understand my perspective. I always thought that Sergei Kostitsyn was a great pick where he was taken, as a matter of fact I was the first to say he could be as good or better than his brother. Andrei was not worthy of the 10th overall pick in 2003, especially in retrospect, and Sergei was much better than the 200th overall pick in 2005. They both should probably have gone somewhere in the second round of their respective drafts. Win some, you lose some. But, as I said above, if Sergei was playing in the WHL, he wouldn't be scoring any more points than Maxwell or White, even though he is a year older. Gagner and Stampos are over 2 years younger, and Tavares is 3 1/2 years younger than Sergei.

Troy Brouwer won the WHL scoring title last year with around 100 points I believe. Kostitsyn's former teammates, Rob Schremp and Dave Bolland scored well over that in the OHL. In the AHL this year, Brouwer is scoring at nearly the same pace, and is among the league leaders. Schremp and Bolland have done little to speak of.

I understand what your saying buy your comparing the stats and players, it doesn't alway mean that just cause Schremp and Bolland haven't lit it up yet, to is meaningless to a degree, when I watch these games I'm not focused on what the other prospects are doing just what our guy is doing. Kostitsyn in London plays with more grit then I've seen from Schremp, while playing in his first season in North America, Bolland who I like as a decent prospect, doesn't have the same skill set as Kostitsyn imo. The fact is they are their own players and stats aside we'll just have to wait and see what Siarhei Kostitsyn does at the next level.

I don't know if I agree about Andrei being a 2nd round pick but it's easier to say that now since he's in his 3rd year in the ahl. That said he was one of the dogs top players last year and he's doing it again this year. He's gotten better each year but he's still so raw. It will be interesting to see what they do with him next year cause he'll never clear waivers.

one thing that makes him different from his brother is he plays in all key situations. The other game I saw him playing defense on the penalty kill. Dale hunter must have alot of confidence in him

16. He had 2 games with a point before the WJC, and he's had 14 games straight since coming back.

Not that it really matters, but by my count, he's played 12 games since the worlds. 2 game streak before that. :D

I bet he stays in London next year there trying or already have the Memorial Cup and Hunter will want him bad.

No way he's staying in the OHL. He'll be in Hamilton because the logical next step in his career is to advance. Why stay in a league which he is currently dominating?

Hunter can want him all he wants, but when he signs with us it will be Timmins' and Gainey's call as to where he is going to play.

Kostitsyn will be 20 soon, he is done with junior hockey, and I don't think that the Hunters would make any effort to hold him back. They will be more concerned about NHL teams trying to get Pat Kane and Sam Gagner to turn pro early. They wanted him back last year as a 19 year old which is normal, and because they probably didn't think he was ready for the AHL. They know him better than anyone.

Seems very, very doubtful. There's no need for him to play in London next year, he can make the jump to Hamilton which is what he needs to do not put up a 100 pts in the ohl.

Keeps his point streak going at 15 games. 40 points 9 goals, 31 assists.

He's 5th in the OHL in scoring (London with 3 players that are top 5 in league scoring) 44-25-59-84 48 pims +21. He's at a career high in assists and points in 20 less games, also his +/- was a -5 last year, 26 goal difference from last year.

Mathias Brunet had an article on Kostitsyn, talked with assistant coach Dave Gagner, he said that he is probably one of the most talented players in his age group. Says that Gainey suggested to the Hunters that they should pick up Kostitsyn at the Import Draft. Also says he needs to work on his consistency but thinks he can be a top 6 player. Of course a coach will likely be biased for their own players.

I've watched him here in London for the past two years ....I can tell you that this kid has decent skating speed ,great hands and a very accurate , hard shot...very shifty with a nose for the net

Sergei bags the natural hatty, giving him 5 points on the night. Knights come back to take the 7-6 lead.

Man, this kid is on fire. I wish I could see more of these games. Is the game over?

Whos the knights goalie? The Knights games are always so high scoring?
