Guest Captain Koivu#11
Well, we have to consider where our needs are.... We've got like tons of talented forwards waiting to get to play in the big team on a regular basis (Grabovski, Kostitsyn x2, Chipchura and so on +Latendresse, Lapierre and Higgins already there), while the only young defenders we've got are O'Byrne and Emelin (Fischer and Carle will take another two years at least). We need youg men on D. What about Andrew Archer? Is he any good? Do you think he could make the line up in the future? Mod Note: This is a split from the rumour mill thread. - Graeme
Guest Captain Koivu#11
I've got a feeling Archer will be a career AHL-player. He's capable but it just seems to me he hasn't really got those extra skills that often are needed to make the NHL. I might be wrong but that's my feeling about him. I wouldn't be surprised if Archer is a career AHLer becasue I think he was picked up in the draft pretty late. Like the 7th round or something. Guest macpherson8
I would like Zubrus back too. I think he is pretty good. He was one of our best players when he was with us. And I wouldn't be surprised if Archer is a career AHLer becasue I think he was picked up in the draft pretty late. Like the 7th round or something. that means nothing Ryder was picked up in the 8th round!
Guest Captain Koivu#11
that means nothing Ryder was picked up in the 8th round! Yeah I know, but not everybody that was picked up late in the draft will become an NHLer.

He just threw it in as a fact that pointed against him being an NHLer. Because you have to agree that the late picks not often turn out to be NHLers (yes I know there's a lot of exceptions but in general).
tmash
Also note, the following quote I took out of the other thread What about Andrew Archer? Is he any good? Guest Hoser
Without getting into him as a player or anything, he'll never make it if he can't stay healthy. The man has ankles of glass and a groin of silly putty, he breaks down like a Ford Escort, he'll never survive in the NHL like that.
Guest Greek Hab
He's missed the past 7 Dogs games with his injury.
Guest montreal
He has a broken bone in his ankle and is out for a while again. It's been another tough season for him after missing a ton of time last year and even more time this year.
Guest swansee
In what I've seen in the past three seasons, Archer could develop into a Komisarek type player, he started off not being physical enough but has been working on that.....but the obvious knock on him is that he keeps getting injured and missing huge chunks of time this season and last (but then the same could be said of Begin)......My personal opinion is that due to injuries he'll be a career AHLer (like Benoit Gratton) but if his luck changes he has what it takes to make the NHL. Guest Roy33
if he makes it to the big club he will be a 6th or 7th defenceman but the bad news for him is the defenceman we have now he will not have a shot with the big club and he is turning 24 IMO BG could dangle him as trade bait??? jigger-1
What was this guy thinking taking on Laracque? I mean, you want to show your stuff to the coaching staff but man, pick someone else for your first NHL fight! Welcome to the NHL. Yikes.

Guest overlords
Anyone remember how dumb don cherry sounded when he was defending lecavalier going at it with chara? "Heart of a lion! Heart of a lion". Yeah well, i'd rather compare him to the scare crow without a brain if any character from Oz. His positioning was horrible in the scuffle. Guest Oatmeal777
What's wrong with "Heart of a Lion". I think that's a pretty good line....
