Guest KOIVU#11
same here. i feel so useless.so helpless. so sad. why does montreal deserve this? the mecca of hockey deserves better. its fans deserve better. and i hate those players who cheated themselves tonight. there were 4 or 5 players who gave it their all tonight. thats it. I also find myself asking why. Why does this always happen to me, why does this always happen to the habs.
Guest twist_and_shout
Go away.24 times a winner. You? Not so much Go away. Yeah, and who on Montreal has won the cup? Oh yeah...Kovalev. That's the real heart of a winner right there sin't it? My bitching is nothing compared to what would be going down right now if we were in Calgary. The city would be on fire. I refuse to go back well over a decade to consider this team a winner. If that's your attitude, why don't you root the Leafs on in the playoffs too. Guest Bourne
No, its on CBC, which stands for Canadian Boradcasting Corp., which is paid for by Canadian Tax dollars. Don Cherry's salary, again paid for by tax dollars. But yes, we couldn't agree more, it sure seems like it's a Leaf's channel. People in the rest of Canada(outside of Montreal) only get Leafs games on Saturday night. Because somehow they decided, that the rest of Canada likes the leafs more (of course the western team, calgary, edmonton, and vancouver, play at a later time) Actually according to CBC. The reason they play more Leafs game then any other team is because it is more cost efficient for them and they believe they stand to earn more money by playing Leaf games. Yes it sounds ridiculous but that is what I read. Also Johnson tried somewhat tonight as well. Streit was also playing good enough. The rest of our team was barely noticeable, especially our defense. Guest KOIVU#11
Toronto has been just as terrible during games as we have, and their struggling right down to the last game and still needing help to get in shows that. Maurice didn't do that much more than Carbo and given some of the situations on this team, I might suggest Carbo did better than Maurice. Maybe your right, but as far as I'm concerned every time we played the leafs this season they seemed like they were more mentally prepared and focused then montreal, it seems like they always come to play and we dont. Guest caperns
They fluked out a win tonight and still may miss the playoffs, what makes him such a brilliant coach ? Look at the linup they have . Players that we just let go. Perrault and Kilger. Players on any other team would be in the americam hockey league. Battaglia, Ian white, John Polh, Wade belak. Missing some of there best players for most of the season. Michael Peca, Collavecio, Kyle wellwood. Listen I cheer for the habs as much as any. But, I also acknowledge character. And when people have make accomplishments. I remeber a post on this web site during preseason by regis. He talked about how hard naurice had worked the leafs they could not get a breath when they left the ice. I would venture he has leanred the new game. It is about skating. Not standing still like a brick wall.

Guest netcase
I agree with 95 percent of this post. I supported Kovalev all year and wether it is injury or not he is not what this team needs or wants in the future. I disagree with cheering for the islanders though. Hats off to the leafs. Not a very talented team. But they worked there collective butts off every shift and I think they are well coached. I don't see Buffalo walking over them like many believe if the leafs do make it. They handed buffalo there first loss of the season. And they are one of only a few teams who has dominated buffalo from start to finish in a game. I said that about the Leafs and almost got crucified in the forum. The Leafs showed in every way that tonight was an important win. Kudos to them. We could have had it but did not show up and commited senseless penalties which cost us the game. We played 20 minutes, that's it. The Leafs outplayed us big time for 40. We did not deserve to win and certainly our playing is not up to playoff par so why not just end the misery tonight. We have been cursing and hoping for the Habs all season and this game tonight was the sum of all their efforts and respect for their fans. I hope we see an entire new team next season starting with management.

Forget the trap next year and just attack. The even streangth +/- results couldn't be any worse. The trap is dieing.

I agree with you fully on that one, everytime we played them they came out strong against us while we just kinda sat and watched them outplay us. But it was obvious that we were a better team because when we would finally wake up Toronto couldn't do anything against us. Our team is skilled but lacks a lot of character, Koivu, Ryder and Higgins showed character tonight, they were working hard on just about every shift but other than that our team just didn't care and didn't work and that's what happened, there better be some big changes in the summer is all I can say. It is because we have some young guys and questionable leadership. That is something I have said all season. These young guys need some leaders to help them when in tough situations and with the pressure games we have been playing under.

Because somehow they decided, that the rest of Canada likes the leafs more (of course the western team, calgary, edmonton, and vancouver, play at a later time) I miss Radio Canada "La Soiree du Hockey" . I had to watch on CBC because I'm a cheap ******* and I don't believe in paying to watch the Habs on channel 254. I like Bob Cole. You could tell he was ecstastic when Ryder got the Hat Trick. Harry Neale should wear a Leafs jersey for every telecast. I still think the turning point was playing Kovalev-Lapierre-Latendresse with a lead. That cost us all the momentum. I was a Ryder basher previously. But I had a Ryder hockey card, cause he's still a great scorer and I kept his card under a candle all night, hoping he could carry the torch. Almost. It hurts but I'm happy that we made it this far when we looked like we were going down the gutter completely in February. Happy Easter everyone. Go Canucks. I'm pulling for all the good French Canadiens who aren't on the Habs. Watch the heart of Vinny, Marty and the Lightning.

And the thing is, next year we're only going to be younger, which I have no problem with. Management needs to make a decision this off season, sign a few key vets and pay Markov and Souray the huge bucks and try and put a Contender together, or get all of our prospects playing, give them the experience and suffer bottom feeding for a season or two. Why finish 7th-10th constantly?
leafsfantowin-bs9
hey guys, i just got back from the bar. I just want to say a few words. I've read a few posts on the last couple pages, and i see a few of you bashing your own team. Well, from a HOCKEY fans perspective, players like huet, higgins, Begin, Koivu, and the rest played a really good game tonight. it was a tough battle for both teams as they both at one point were up in the rankings, both to fall precariously to this point. It does come down to winning or losing this game, but im not making that point. the Habs fought hard tonight, it was a very intense game, and as a maple leafs fan as die hard as i am, i salute every single one of your players for their effort. It has been a great season with its rollercoaster ride for both teams, and remember, there is always more hockey next year. In 8 months from now, this will be a distant memory. All my respect for the habs players and fans, if there was a way for both teams to make it in, i would have definitly wanted that above all else.
