Yep, in 1994, that's basically when I stopped liking baseball. The players strike killed baseball in Montreal, selfish overpaid bastards.

Guest Blockoman
If we can build a better stadium and get team staff that are smarter than dépanneur owners, then I'll want baseball back in Montreal.

Hey, i give most depanneur owners i know more credit than that . They were ATLEAST smarter than the expos management. Yeah and they did screw us out. I love the game and I love the team. But the MLB is just another NFL now. Fixed and made up for show. Go back to the early 1900's and now we're hearing things about the series' back then being fixed. Give it fifty years and they'll be saying the same damn thing about 94.

The real problem in Montreal was that the dépanneur owners couldn't afford to pay there staff. They would develop amazing dépanneur talent ony to have it stolen away by a bigger chain. It was frustrating to watch, they would get them so well trained on the cash register and on the floor, only to have their talent loored away! Guest kendogg
Been curious about that for awhile. Does Montreal miss the Expos? cheeseman I'm sure some people miss baseball in Montreal. Who do Montreal baseball fans root for now? I hear alot root for my RedSox, and i'm sure some root for the BlueJays.
Guest habguy
Honestly I miss the Expos to death, every Sunday used to be an outing to the Expos game with my dad. It really was something else and its unfortunate people did not appreciate them enough to keep them around. My best memory of the Expos was during the 02 season when they were neck and neck in the wild card race and we were averaging high attendences again. Then we played the braves in a 4 game set and swept them. I was at every game of that series and the atmosphere was astonashing. The last home game in the team's history was a hard one for me as along with 90% of the crowd I teered up at the end of the game. Seeing Cluade Raymond and Brad Wilkerson with tears in their eyes was when it really hit me that baseball was to be no more in Montreal.
Guest Greek Hab
Hell yea I miss them. After they left, and I havn't really been interested in baseball anymore. Sure I'll watch a Jays game if there is absolutely-positively nothing else on the tube, but it just ins't the same when that team doesn't play for Montreal...I don't get the city-love pride. Guest JL
I loved the Expos and I was driving from Sherbrooke to Montreal to watch the Expos play 10-15 times a year. Since they moved to Washington, I stopped watching baseball all together. http://www.humboldt.edu/~jcb10/ExposPie.mp3
Guest Habs+Cavs
I don't live in Montreal and don't come from there, but The Expos were my favorite team in the MLB. When I heard that they were gone, I couldn't beleive it.. Its just sad to not watch the expos play anymore, so now I watch the Cleveland Indians since they are my second favorite. Guest rosalie52
I miss the Expos so much. And I miss the Quebec Nordiques too. I've heard that Badaboum fell into drugs and alcohol after the moving of the Nordiques. He's now living homeless in downtown Quebec City... At least, we saved Youppi from that awful destiny... Guest kendogg
Depends, they lost the team really. But why move it to Washington? That's screams something with an American tone. How much longer do you think the Nats are going to stay in Washington? They're not doing any better than Montreal did. Though they are drawing larger crowds. Their attendance still stinks though. I think if there is a good owner, Montreal woudl be a very good baseball city (same thing with the Blackhawks in Chicago)

Guest Blockoman
The Marlins are at the bottom of game attendance, so Washington isn't really that badly off. However, if the Nats continue to play poorly, this can change really quickly. Just look what happened to the St. Louis Blues fanbase when they finished last in the NHL. Guest Gumper-73
HUGELY miss the Expos. Grew up watching them on TV (back when they were on TV). Came to Montreal from Southwestern Ontario a bunch of times to watch them. Still even have my Mark Langston t-shirt (oops Randy Johnson). Nothing but heart break over the years though. Great players, and lower mangagement. Poor building in a crappy part of town and owners that stunk. Is Olympic Stadium finally paid for now? I honestly believe that a new stadium in the downtown (was it possible?) would have made the boat float similar to what's happened with the Al's. Oh well. It took a couple years to even watch ball again. I cheer for the Jays now even if there GM is a classless punk who really wants to work of the Red Sox. 1994 forever! Ricarddi wants to build the Jays like his good friend Billy Beane's Oakland A's teams that were so sucessful with so little money. He's obviously not even close.
