Way to go Bob, you can never have enough talent on the farm or the big club, less difficult to make a trade when teams are looking for prospects.

Well atleast greekHAb is with me that he could be a great prospect. Tell ya what, I'll cheer for Kosto if you help me cheer for Beau :) Do we have a deal lol

Lol. Deal! I'm happy with this signing...we get a potential goal scorer, but there is speculation that he's prone to injury. I don't quiet buy it though...

In 2004-05, yes he probably was injured only playing 5 games...and then 2006-07 he was injured at the end of the season...still in that season he had amazing numbers...124 pts...wow! If he is so prone to injury, then how did manage to play 69 games(his most games played in a season). Also in the 2006-07 playoffs he managed to get 11 pts(5G 6A) in 12 games. Not bad for a injured prone player. ;)

Overall, there is some risk...and this gives us a hard example that Gainey is willing to take a chance. Hey, it's not like BG said Thomas is coming to play with the Grand Club right this minute! Give the guy time to develop in Hamilton or Cincinnati.

This guy is filling a billet on the farm team and may be a prelude for a player to move up to the parent club. I like the idea that he and Matheiu Carle were teammates. It could make for an interesting Power Play unit in Hamilton.

Great--we need more scoring talent--could be a steal :) .

Hope it is. Either way, what could go wrong? Either he could produce and be a solid steal for us. Or do nothing and what? Gillet loses some money? Woopty doo like we care. He's not hitting the cap so lets be happy for a chance to have a somewhat promising goal scorer.

Kid is worth a shot I guess. Some peeps are making this guy out to be the real deal already. He is a player who prospered once he was far more mature playing against younger players. Good for him too. But this won't happen in the NHL. Your A game has to be there or you don't play. There is no waiting 3-4 years for the competition to mellow because it doesn't. That's not to say Beauregard can't continue his development but the odds are not on his side.

Finally, Gainey does something that might just help in a few years!

How is this the first thing that Gainey does that will help in a few years? Singing Marov does count as a Free Agent signing. He singed Smolinski, he will make a decent third line center. He is an upgrade from Bonk with an offensive upside. Same goes for Kostopoulos. He is an upgrade from Johnson. Plus, he will drop the gloves. Let's not forget Hamerlik, who is surely an upgrade from Souray. In all ways except for offensively.

"Beauregard missed most of his NHL draft year because of injuries "

That's why he wasn't drafted. Now he have a contract, will see what he does. It's just a little money on the side, nothing that goes on the Salary Cap cause he won't be playing in the nhl soon. He have to make his mark in the ahl first.

Who said 29 gm passed on him ? May be this guy got offer from other team too, but he decided to try with the habs.

This guy has great potential. And it's very cool that he went with the Habs. He certainly had other offers after being the top-goal-scorer in the Q, but he must want to play for his hometown.

Hmm, another case of player from the Q that doesn't get drafted and yet, ends up being signed by an NHL team.

Less and less players from the Q get drafted but their numbers in the NHL hasn't declined at the same rate or at all.

Remember Gilles Thibideau, this guy is a carbon copy, fast slick, timid, wishes the rinks were round( hates corners), and is brittle. They will love him in Hamilton. Keep in mind, overage players have a huge advantage, playing against 17 yr olds. He is soft on the puck like Ribero.

He might be a fill in someday.

I hate to burst your bubble but according to Montreals official website (look at Habs development camp invitees) and Hamiltons official website and it mentions Beauregard is under an AHL contract and not an NHL contract with the Habs

As I thought it must be an AHL Tryout contract. The same goes for Desjardins.

If hes good enough hell be signed to MTL.

Im excited for this guy, ive seen him play here in halifax against the mooseheads, i always booed him here, but i will cheer when he wears the CH, and i really think he will.

Oh man, I saw this kid a few times, and boy does he have a rocket of a snipe, He scored a hatrick one game with one timers down on one knee into the top corners all 3 times, Brett Hull style. My friends and I were amazed by his ability to score, he has one of the best shots I have seen from a junior player, period.

It won't take long for this kid to make an impact, he will be a star in Hamilton, and will make the team soon, he has all the potential in the world. Anyone who has seen this kid play knows the kind of threat he poses to anyone, its very exciting to see he is on our system now.

Agreed 100%

Im suprised this thread isnt more popular, people dont understand what a steal this is.

North American Fire Power at that.

I think he will complement Saku Koivu a lot maybe in the 08-09 season, koivu will help him develop.

Man im excited

I think a wait and see approach is the wise way to go.

He was not picked up by alot of teams, can they all be wrong ?

Mistakes can happen.....Martin St.Louis for instance.

This guy is a project and a risk, but one that may just pay HUGE dividends !!!!

Wouldn.t that be nice for a change ?
