I have been gone for like 10-12 dyas without TV. I missed most of training Camp and the pre-season. How was Huet in the pre-season?? I noticed that the Habs did not win too many games but how was Huet?? I am will aware that everything means nothing ....It all begins on Friday....Just curious, What was Huet's status during the pre-season??

He didnt play many games...probably played in only 2-3 and not even full games...he was pretty average and wasnt the huet that everbody loved last year. Not saying he was bad or anything because its hard for a goalie to jump in half way through a game and have a groove going but I think he'll have a pretty solid year again this year. There is sooo much pressure on this guy this year, I've heard and read many things saying "will huet be the guy everybody loved last year, or will he falter under the pressure"....Only time will tell!!! GO HABS GO!!!

Huet is under a lot of pressure, but its like our entire season rides on him repeating last years performance. We still have Aebisher who can easily split 50/50 games, or start if Huet struggles too much. I think Huet will be more than a 1 year wonder, he has been fairly solid his whole career, but I dont think its right to expect the numbers he put up at the end of last year considering he is playing a whole season this time and will be way more fatigued considering he has never done it before.

Does anybody remember at the start of last season when the announcers forgot to call out Huet as part of the team when he was injured? I dont think that will happen this year.

I am calling it right now! Huet is going to be the man this year!

I am seeing 35+ wins a Save percentage over .920 and a GAA under 2.30 I also see 8+ shutouts this year too.

These are high expectations but I believe in Huet!! Aebisher will be traded at or before the Deadline and Huet will be a canidate for the Vezina and just might win it. However I see Kipprasoff walking away with it at the end.

HUET HUET HUET HUET!!!!!

He did great in the first full game he played in, but in all the other ones he did pretty average

It is hard to come into a game half way through and but up good numbers. It is also hard to get pumped for a Pre-season game, Huet will do just fine this year...

Hi Montreal Fans,

The team starts off its schedule playing fri and sat.

Do you think Huet will start both games?

I think it might be beneficial for him so that he can get in a nice groove to start the season.

You guys think the coach will play him back-to-back nights?

Thanks

Hi and welcome. You may want to add this question into the Huet thread that is already going. More people will respond and the mod's will probably lock this one to keep the board clean :D

I think a goaltender is only as good as the players he has in front of him. And on that note I think the Habs have some good players this year and I expect out defense will be better.

So I think Huet will have a good year, if not...I'm going to blame it on the Curse of Patrick Roy.

I am hoping that what we saw las season was NOT a flash in the pan.. I liked what I saw! But the pre-seaon was not too good... someone mentioned about part games and hard to get into.. they r right about that. We will see how the first few games go... I am getting memories about someone like Steve Penney....

huet says himself that he has alot to prove, and he is cool under fire so i believe he will be steady and be fine

Yeah I saw that interview where he said he has alot to prove. And he wants to prove that he can do it over a full season. Huet is good under pressure.

I'm a true habs fan but, I've seen too many goalies fall after a good play-off run (Steve Penny) or a great year (cough*Theo). Not saying I'm not pulling for Huet, our play-off chances depend on his play. I'm just keeping my fingers tightly crossed, until about february. Honestly, i wouldn't want to be in his skates right now, he's got a lot of preasure on him. I really do hope he pulls it off.

I'm sorry for coming off a lil negative but, I remeber sitting in the Montreal Forum (I think) in '84...It was the first game against the islanders in semi-finals and Steve Penny shut them out! 3-0 Montreal, what a game!

Montreal obvisouly lossed that series but, many of us walked around all summer, praising Steve Penny. The papers had headlines like, "Penny's from heaven...". Were we ever disapointed that following season, when he flopped. Honestly, how were we to know then, that a bright young player named Patrick Roy, was only a year away...Patrick ended up taking over Penny's spot as #1 goalie and the rest, is history. Sadly, Steve Penny retired shortly after.

Fool me once...Shame on you...Fool me twice...I don't think so!

Oh boy hopefully he didnt hurt his knee or pull his groin to bad...He played pretty good overall with some huge saves but he does seem to get beat high very easy. TSN was sayin how all teams took note of this lats year and how during the shootout his weakness was clearly shown on the 2 goals...Reasons to be a lil worried?
