Realisticly................ Huet has the # 1 job,

Its about a 90% chance that he has the #1 job at the start of the season.

Everyone is in love with price and we have reason to be, hes a great goalie, We could ride him this year, but we would basicly be throwing this year away, for him to learn how to play in the Nhl, seeing as we are the montreal canadians this isnt going to happen.

I do expect we will play him 4-5 games during the season though, As the same crazy things will happen like last year, when we thought whats his name was good, That horrible horirble colorado goalie,

Its the same old here, To much pressure, everyone goes crazy, next thing you know ninimaa is a forward, some dude named halak is in nets.

And so forth..

Im expecting a overall great year from huet, yes he will have his ups and downs, but so will everyone else

Hey dude go to getty images type Cristobal Huet and it should be the first few pages. You'll find about 3-4 pictures of when that happened.

Anyone doubting Huet should realize he is back, he is healthy and focused, and ready to give this team a chance to win game in and game out. Not his fault that we couldn't get him more than one goal tonight.

Huet's performance reminds me of when we traded Aebi and there was the talk of who would be #1? The night Aebi was due to arrive Huet got a shutout. I think he is taking the whole talk of one of the rookies taking his spot serious

Agreed... but his game went down the tank in October last year and it was a good thing that Aebischer had a great month (won the Molson Cup that month). He made some spectacular saves last night against the Sens, but when I watched the highlights, there is no way that those two goals should have gone in.

There is no doubt in my mind that Huet must stay with the team. I would not trade him at any point this season. He's a solid veteran who, at times, shows signs of greatness. He's calm, positions himself well and mostly, he's a true pro as we saw last season in the battle with Aebi.

I'd still rather have Price staying though as Huet hasn't shown that he has the mental strength to be a true number one in this league. He's too subject to losing his confidence and that's what would provide Price with a chance to show what he can do at this level as he's already more than proven what he can do in the AHL. So did Halak, some will say and I agree, but Price is our big ticket, not Halak.

My two cents.

based on pre-season play, Price has let in just as many if not more questionable goals than Huet, the difference is Huet is making those spectacular saves to tip the balance, where as Price is making the saves he should be making, nothing more.

This is not to say Price has not be good, he has been good, but in my opinion, he has not outplayed Huet yet, and in order for him to take the job, he would not only have to outplay Huet, but he would have to stomp the competition. He needs to give the team no choice but to keep him, and so far he has been good enough to keep the team in it, but not better than Huet, and certainly not stomped the competition by any means.

As it stands, Huet is still #1, will he be next season, that, I have serious doubts on.

English translation (thanks to babel on altavista. just google babel translate)

It does not matter which young person will take down the post of guard reservist at the Canadian, the priority of Guy Carbonneau is that Cristobal Huet is ready to undertake the regular season, October 3.

For this reason, Huet will face Bruins of Boston, Thursday, in the Bell Center. The trainer also made it clear that the French should dispute the last preparatory match of the team against the Senators, Saturday, in Ottawa. "One did not discuss yet it, yes, it should play. That will depend on the performance which it will offer Thursday ", indicated Carbonneau, Wednesday. The situation of the guards was again a spine with the foot of the trainer, at the end of the second day of drive of CH to the arena of Saint-Jovite. With proof, the court exchanges on the subject which the journalists and Carbonneau had.

Q Then, what happenhappen does fight that the young people Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak deliver themselves? It is not finished, not?

R. Not, they are still here.

Q Which conclusion does one have to draw?

R. Known as what you want. You say what you want in any event.

Q Your evaluation of the young guards must thus be supplemented.

R. I do not know. Me, I do not say anything any more.

The single certainty currently, it is that Huet will start the inaugural match in North Carolina, vis-a-vis in Hurricanes. If Carbonneau decided to use it Thursday, "it is because on October 3 will arrive quickly", it provided like explanation. Logically thus, Huet should also be of office, Saturday. The subject is so extreme that it was even impossible to know which from Price or Halak will act by way of assistant, Thursday. The motivation of Huet Huet will be the guard of confidence of Tricolour for a second beginning of season of at a stretch. It will be animated desire to prove that it can be a titular guard in the LNH during a whole season. "It is what I would like to achieve, it admitted, Wednesday. I want to show people who still doubt my aptitudes what I can make it. It will be a source of additional motivation for me." It would have taken up the challenge last season, had not been wound with the groin which it inflicted in February. This season, it knows that the young people Price and Halak push to him in the back, but it does not look at behind. "Jaroslav and Carey have talent to resell. Me, I concentrate on what I can do to improve me as guard, to avoid the wounds and to connect the matches." In order to connect some as much as possible, the 32 years old athlete stressed the endurance in his physical preparation during the summer. "A my age, it is important, it underlined. It is not that I am old, but I am not young either. I want to really be ready to often play and to be competitive. "I do not have at the head a total of matches which I wish to play. I do not embark in it, it answered when him the question was asked. The best means of playing, it is well to play."

Last Night Cristobal was excellent, giving us the kind of performance we need to win consistently, i'm glad to see he was not phased by any of the distractions about our goaltending during the entire camp. He has earned that #1 job now definitively with no questions.

Now lets just hope he has a healthy long season, and we will be in good shape to make the playoffs and even cause a few surprises.

Hes seen goalies come and go, Im sure he knows he has to play well out there every night to have his position secured with us.

Hes the man, I was never once dissapointed with his play last year, besides when he was injured. As i really ddidnt want to see abbieshire, in nets, but i cant really get mad @ him for being injured.

Lets hope he keeps up the good work, and we have a great season
