I missed being the 1st poster in Pleky's thread on the French side so I'm trying my luck on the English side ;)

I'm sure many more people will jump on the turtleneck power bandwagon this season, Plekanec will certainly make us jump from our seats quite a few times (well me at least). Go Habs! make that red light flash!

This guy is making everyone forget former #71 doesn't he? :P

Who's that? #71, oh yeah, haven't seen him on the score sheet for Dallas this pre-season!LOL

Hey JL, I am moving out to BC in a few weeks. Where do you live out there? What is the habs viewing like? Am going to Tofino so I hope somehow someway I can get RDS!

i'm going with 24G 35A 59PTS

this would be a good, realstic progression for him stat wise based on his numbers last year. Now he has the potential to exceed this by 10 points if he wants to, but I keep my expectations rather modest for any of our players.

I actually think he'll be higher than that. We really need to look at the end of last season and skip the shaky first part where he was just gaining his confidence and playing with two guys he didn't seem to have much chemistry with. The second half of the season is what he should be able to do now, and he was around a point per game in that part. So I think he should easily break 60 points.

I see Plekanek as a Ray Whitney type player in the sense that he should put up very good stats, but for one reason or another won't be considered a number 1 center.

I'm not sold on Plekanec being the offensive player we saw in the 2nd half of the season, I want to see him be consistently productive over a full year. It's so tough with young guys to determine how consistent they will be.

No doubt he is talented, and either way will be a solid player for us, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him end up with 45-50 points rather then the 60-70 many are predicting.

I understand what you mean by the Whitney comparison, but the main reasons Whitney isn't considered a number 1 center is because he's small and defensive game is pretty weak. Plekanec, despite being around the same height, is 20 pounds heavier then Whitney and is much better defensively, so if he does produce consistently, I don't see him suffering from the same problems as Whitney does.

i don't understand how Pleks is on the third line instead of the 2nd

i do understand that Grabs is mainly one dimensional player (offensive) but hasn't Pleks deserved the chance to be our #2 Center????

i am just worried that the 2nd line is going to be a combined -45 after a week or 2

and i guess if Grabs was on the third line it wouldn't really suit him would it???

If last year we had a 1a and 1b goalie system, this year it's a 2a, 2b lines system with our second/third lines. Plekanec can play both lines, and is a great both ways playmaker that make others look good. I'm not worry about him being on a more the more defensive line, since he won't have to worry about being all defense with Smolinski on his side! Pleky will have one tremendous year for us! Go Turtleneck Go!

I think the Latendresse-Plekanec-Smolinski line will be hugely underestimated by other teams this year, they'll play against easier pairings and get a few more points.

Is it true rookie Grabovski is playing a head of Plekanec on the 2nd line? It surprises me that a rookie jumps like that. I do not think playing him on the third line is a bad idea as he should earn his position. It would not hurt for him to learn a bit of defence if he is one dimensional; much the same knock some people have about Ryder.

I predict 29G 39A 68pts for Tomas Plekanec.

I too can see him getting 70 points if he gets the ice time. If Plekanec does not get the opportunities then he will be lucky if he gets 55 pts. Only time will tell.

I can see this is going to be one interesting year for Plekanec.

Looking forward to a really good season from Pleks.

I think that Pleks can play well on any line so it does not matter if he is on the #1 or #2 or #3 line. I expect that Pleks will put up close to 40 goals this year. Wow!!!

he looked like he was fighting so save his life tonight ... very solid game again, if a bit more of the defensive type than what i'd like though.... there were a few sparks in OT when he played with the artist... kudos to him for staying in front of the net and make the canes take a penalty
