The man is soo good, even Blake has to recognize

''They've got some skilled guys over there,'' Blake said. ''(Tomas) Plekanec, he's a difference-maker out there. I remember him a little last year, but he's definitely stepped up and he's making a lot of plays and playing with some confidence.''

Jason Blake is no slouch himself in the skill department, so that's high praise indeed. Every time Blake carried the puck into our zone on Tuesday, I got super-nervous.

Confidence in oneself is a wonderful thing. Plekanec believes in himself now and it's made the difference between him being a solid third-line centre and him busting out to claim the position of second-line centre that many people, myself included, didn't think he could fill during the first part of 06-07.

Just want to give Pleks his due, I don't think he ever gets enough credit, but I really think he is an essential reason for Kovalev's rebound, he is an essential reason for Kostitsyn's rise, and he is quietly one of the highest producing 2nd line centers in the league so far. Here we were doubting this kid from the start of june and looking for someone to fill the role he is filling so perfectly now. We were about to go out and pay 7 million a season for a guy who might have had 3 or 4 more points at this point than Pleks.

So, what the heck, our Plekanec,

is quietly doing his thing on deck;

credit gives where credit's due,

and Pleks deserves your point of view!

Agreed. Plekanec has made off with the second-line centre position like a highway robber. Last year at this time, I had no idea he was capable of playing at this level. I thought he was going to be a career third-line / checking centre with a bit of offensive upside. There's no hesitation in his eyes now, no lack of confidence in himself. Instead of looking to his linemates to set the tone, he goes out and plays his game, and it is translating into results on the scoresheet. Way to go, Tomas!

yay! finally the plekster gets his rhymes :D

Never fear, my dear,

my rhyme's sincere,

as Pleks has earned his spurs, this year;

a class unto himself, Tomas,

has gotten all his ducks in gear!

he's also shown some good resilience, the isle were mistaking him for a piñata.... stick to the head, stick in the back, stick behind the knees, fist in the back of the neck.... and of course the zebras were just standing there, waiting for the candies i suppose, not calling anything :angry:

He is proof that whatever potential players appear to have when they enter the league is not always accurate nor true. :)

Another highlite reel goal again tonight from #14. (4-2 loss vs Sabres)

The guy was always dangerous on the ice and easily one of our best forwards.

And he's only getting better ...

I dont even think he's plateau'ed yet either. He's so crafty and smart with the puck, it seems the sky is the limit for him, and he's inching his way there.
