Guest QbGamer
He needs some RedBull or somethig to get him moving out there. I wonder how long he will be in the press box for?
tmash
Agreed on all counts. He had a few good games a while back and I started to hope that maybe he'd finish strong down the stretch. But right now, he's just a depth guy to me. I would frankly not have any problem with calling Chipchura up and making Smolinski a bench-warmer. Only problem with this is long term it doesn't look good for future UFAs. I understand this guys offense dropping - it happens to everyone who comes to Montreal, but usually defensive players can really excel here in a shutdown role, he's done just the opposite. Smolinski is a horse of a different colour. He's at the end of his career and simply hasn't lived up to expectations. I don't think any future UFA's are charting his progress or anything like that. Before he played his first game as a hab, we all know he'd be a role player and nothing more. Unfortunately, he's been much less.
Guest Onzeee
the guy scored 18 goals lastyear and was solid in the circle.... he signed here to wind it down i think
Guest AlexK
I don't get why this guy ever gets to be in the lineup these days. He doesn't appear good enough to compete anymore. If Begin is injured can't we put Sergei Kostitsyn at center ice or call up Grabs?

Guest td2000
Smoke did some nice things early on.. then as the games progressed, watched him fumble. Can Kosto take faceoffs? I'd rather see him there than Smoke.. or bring up chips or grabs

Guest fansince1975
I thought that Smoke had a really good game against Buffalo. Probably his best game since he helped Montreal beat New Jersey a few weeks ago. Hopefully he is in the lineup this Saturday as he played really well last time Montreal played the Devils. fourtrax
I'll give credit where it's due: he went 8/11 in the faceoff circle tonight. Good stuff.

Good stuff. so that's what... 3... maybe 4 games he's earned his paycheque. Even a broken clock is right twice a day and I can't wait 'til he leaves. You have no business joining the most storied franchise in hockey history and not showing an ounce of passion. I'll hold a small parade when he's gone . But yes, yes. Gj on the faceoffs i guess. Guest fansince1975
He played really good against Devils a few weeks ago. Major reason we won that game. He played well yesterday against Buffalo. I hope he does well today. His experience, right hand shot, PK, and face-offs can help a lot in the playoffs and stretch run. Will he be back next year. No or least I would be shocked if he was. But at this moment I hope he can help as he still has the ability to make a positive contribution to the team. Guest jennifer_rocket
53% on face-offs against New Jersey. Another solid effort. Hopefully he continues his good play in the circle.
Guest QbGamer
I found myself asking why on earth was he out there on the ice against the Devils last game. Then i remember last time we played New Jersey Smolinski was the Brodeur killer, scoring 2 goals in that game which helped us come back to win
