fourtrax
Maybe, just maybe, he has awoken from his season-long slumber and will actually be the player we thought we were getting last summer.

Guest Habby67
I dont care what anyone else says. Anyone and I mean anyone on the farm can replace him at this stage. He had a terrible game. He was knocked off the puck at least 6 times that I can remember and then decides to help out deep in the slot and knocks over Price. Have him pass out water bottles or something... Guest habs fan #1
I'll give credit where it's due: he went 8/11 in the faceoff circle tonight. Good stuff. Exactly I'm not fond of the Guy but give Credit when Credit is due Great in that department

He stunk. He did do well in the face off circle thats true the problem is after the face off is over you still got to play the game. And he was awful last night. I am still ticked at him knocking over Price.. Price had enough Sharks running him over last night he didn't need Smolinski to join in. I am sick of this guy hit the press box Kostoploous is much more usefull and I don't need him sitting for Smolinksi.
fourtrax
Enough is enough. Smolinski, meet Bench. Bench, meet Smolinski. You two should have a long-lasting, wonderful relationship. I am at a loss for words to describe how poorly Smolinski played last night, from bell to bell, in every aspect of the game. From knocking over our own goalie on the second goal to going below 50% in faceoffs to falling down seemingly three times per shift every shift to getting pushed off the puck like a kid playing with men twice his size, this was possibly Smolinski's worst game of the year. There are 15 games left and every point counts in the standings. Give me Kostopoulos, Dandenault, or Begin, I don't care which, and sit Smoke for the rest of the regular season. fourtrax
Does the bench have a choice?... No, it's an arranged marriage. I have tried to give Smoke the benefit of the doubt all year long, but I can't do it anymore. He has to sit.
tmash
Tripping his own goaltender has to be a new low. What happened to this guy? Defensive players usually fit in pretty well here, but he's had an overall terrible season. He's had the odd few good games here and there, but this signing turned out to be a bust. Guest jennifer_rocket
The 2nd goal was really brutal last night. Smolinski definitely should've been more aware of his surroundings. What made it worse was the banking it off of Price to score the goal. Embarassing. Smolinski has to sit. He had been doing well in the face-off circle, but not so much last night, I believe. He has been the worst decision Gainey made this season.

Can't we give him directions to the wrong plane to come back to montreal on. Send him to toronto instead
fourtrax
What boggles my mind is that he's playing this poorly in a contract year. I have no idea what he thinks he's going to get paid next year, but it won't be very much, and the way he's playing, it might not even be in the NHL. Well from what I remember in Ottawa, he wasn't really a defensive player. He was actually playing left wing on the second line. Whoever is in charge of scouting NHL players for the Habs is doing a poor job.

That was pretty bad but the low point of the game for me was in the first period (PK mission) when Smoke was about to clear the zone and one of the Shark players basically tossed him aside. Smolinski is listed as 6'1 and 203 pounds on the main site. Yet he was thrown aside like he was a ragdoll

Yes he scored those 2 goals against the devils, but thats the only good thing that comes to mind He's had some decent games, and a handful of good games, the 2-goal outburst against the Devils probably being the highlight. But on the season, he's either been invisible and unmotivated, or visible for all the wrong reasons (i.e. tripping up his own goalie).
