It truly has been a disasterous season for Smolinski. It is, in my opinion, too late in the year for any redemption. Even a solid play-off run wouldn't make me even CONSIDER resigning him next season. Bring on Lapierre and Chipchura, please!

Smokes has actually been playing okay barring last game where he hit Price. He made a few decent passes to teammates and was good on faceoffs. I hope he can find some chemistry with some players somewhere.

80% in the circle tonight, they won't sit him til he starts sucking in faceoffs.

okay i know this doesn't really have to do with smolinki's playing. but the new video of him and his kid is too cute. lol

http://canadiens.nhl.tv/team/launch.htm?ty...5&catid=450

just hopefully they can still be serious in practice, but i bet the kid makes them also remember the fun side of hockey, when you strive to be the best

I enjoyed watching it

I say we have a separate thread for " M Smolinksi " - I mean he's got his own dressing room stall with his name on it :P

haha. what would we say about him? lol...i mean i imagine some people will say he should replace ryder or some other player  but otherwise...lol well i assume he could easily deke players as he could probably pass under their legs lol.

"M Smolinski...passes between fowards legs, and now the defense. and now he hides behind the second D to surprise the goalie with a nice soft shot!" lol

I'm afraid it may be time to sit Mr Smolinski for a while in lieu of Kostopoulos or even Dandenault.

Is it just me or does he seem to cough up the puck quite often within seconds of getting posession?

Good to see him score an important goal, but he's got to stop taking out our goalie

:D I thought the same thing. Even though the goal was weak, I'll take it, but like I've said before, Smoke is going to have to play out the string hard before I'll really be impressed. His current pattern is to play well for a game or two, then disappear into mediocrity for the next 10. Let's hope he breaks that pattern.

It was a good shot, but from that angle, Brodeur had no business being beaten short-side. Brodeur even admitted post-game that Smoke caught him cheating a bit to the other side.

But hey, they can't all be highlight-reel goals, and they all count for the same on the scoresheet. :)

I don't expect Smoke to score often even though he is a 20 goal scorer over parts of his career. Nice to see him get the first goal of the game. He does seem to be playing far better on PK, face-offs and overall. Just in time to get ready for the playoffs.

too bad he is good in the faceoff circle because that is the only thing keeping him in the lineup. IMO

I hope he sits the next 2 at least though.

tried to make a pass out of the zone 2 men down, result.......... in our net

Yep he had all the time and space he needed.. all he had to do was dump the puck down the ice.. Instead he makes a soft pass right to the oppistion..

I am absloutley sick of this guy.. winning 4 faceoffs is not enough reason to keep this guy in the line up.. He is sopossed to be a good defensive foward he is supposed to be good on the PK.. but night after night he makes miste after mistake..

Smoke is useless out there..Sit him in the pressbox for the rest of the year.. It makes me sick that he is out there and we are not using Laps and even worse Chips is in the AHL.

What a disappointment he's been this season. I figured his point production would drop but that he'd at least be a steady, veteran presence at centre, adding defensive responsibility plus some scoring. Instead, he's one of the worst defensive liabilities on the team, faceoffs aside, and moreover, doesn't even appear interested most nights. What happened to this guy? He used to be so much better in Ottawa.

I was genuinely happy when we signed Smolinski in the summertime. Now I'm left wondering how a good player can drop off so dramatically in such a short period of time.
