Guest Onzeee
well we waited roughly 70 games for him to show us when he could do, he isnt forgiven for doing absolutely nothing all season but right now he is one of our foot soldiers out there and his ability to win FO's is huge in that first round he was 62-62 in the circle

He's played extremely well since the last time he was benched, not just the last 10 games...
Guest Handlanger
I love how he plays now... but still I don't think he'll be back... they gave him a one-year contract.... clearly indicates that he was here to be a filler until Chips is ready. Guest fansince1948
Would never accuse him of "TANKING" but I would like a supply of whatever he was on that suddenly gave him breakaway speed. Hope he keeps it up.
Guest detritus
Forget the past, he had a rough season but he has been Huge for us out there. He is the oil that keeps the machine that is our third line running. Without his brilliant veteran plays, players like Kosto/Begin may be caught at the wrong end of the ice far to often. He may not be the quickest player but he can read plays like few others. He knows whenever a D-men fakes the pass forward and goes straight behind them to steal the dump back pass. I can't count how many times i've seen him directly skate behind a defensemen and pick up the nervous dump pass that is subsequently made which generates a strong scoring chance for us. I love the way is playing now and i hope Guy has sat Chips down and told him to watch every move he makes during these playoffs.
Guest RussianRifle: AK-27
If anything, I can see Gainey offering him a deal similar to what Breezer was offered. I can't see Smoke willing to accept less money and less playing time, but I think its worth a shot. If this playoff run proves anything, it's that our young players still need some time to grow. Having a young core is one thing, but seasoned vets can do a lot for a team. Just look at some of our top perfomers thus far in the playoffs (Hammer, Kovy, Breezer, Smoke). The importance of role players should never be underestimated. Personally, I'd rather see Dandy let go and Smoke retained as a 3rd or 4th liner and assume some defensive and leadership responsibilities while Chipchura quietly develops his game. Guest QbGamer
He stunk it up in the faceoff circel tonight with the team leading low of 44%, It costed us the 3rd goal him not winning it. Gotto work on that smoke

sach
dont know if its coincidence or not but this was his first useless effort of the playoffs, it might have somthing to do with begin being removed from his line.

FanFromAB
Smolinski just doesn't fit in with this team. He skates so slow and never back checks....he frustrates me a lot while watching!
teststory
Good effort in the playoffs, but I don't think there is enough left in the tank. Time to hang up the skates. To invisible during the regular season.

js2
He had zero points in the last 9 games, and was -3 tonight. The differential is definately not his lines fault. edit- I just checked and he was only on the ice for one goal against. Don't know where you got this -3 from. leafs_rock_go_mccabe
A poor season, but an admirable post-season. He was ALMOST good for us in the playoffs, but his play tapered off, again. It was fun for a year, but we'll be seeing ya, Smolinski. Next up, Kyle C.
jl-1
Smolinski has made more people eat crow than any other player this season. Since the last time he got benched, he's played excellent hockey for us including down the stretch and in the playoffs. Money well spent, that's for sure, and he allowed Chipchura to gain one more year experience as he'll be ready for prime time next season.
