Guest CanadianMike
What a great surprise Streit has become for us. I hope he continues to shine (even though some people overlook him) I think he is a big part of this team. Go Streit. Love the new player topics, it only means one thing...THE SEASON IS HERE!! edit: shouldn't it be 3rd season.
Guest ryanrdt
Versatile and responsible. Hope the best for him this year. Seems like he will be used on the PP loads so points will go up!
Guest habs_4_9_10
He's doing great on the defense... He could play 4th defense with Hamrlik the october 3.
Guest electron
Streit should definitely play defense this year. He's earned it! It doesn't even matter, if he is on the 3rd pairing, as he will get powerplay time as well as kill penalties. Komi/Markov Hamrlik/O'byrne Streit/Boullion(if we have to)
Guest Bobineau
Mark Streit gave us a clinic of hockey during the pre-season. He is the most underestimated Dmen in the league, but because he is Swiss, his nationality is clouding people's judgment.

Agreed that many underestimate him as a defenceman but more than likely because of his versatility at playing forward. Kind of like a "Swiss Army Knife!" GO Streit GO!!!!!!!! Guest Hoser
Streit isn't very good in the defensive zone, but he doesn't have to be. He rushes and moves the puck so well it's never in our end for long. He's so smooth and confident out there now, and I think it'll be an absolute crime if he has to play on the 3rd pairing or even the 4th line! tmash
So is he going to be Hamrlik's partner? I think the two of them could be a good second pairing and Hamrlik should bring out the best in Streit.

Guest Memo Gonzales
I think he was our best defenseman against the Hurricanes. Moves the puck around well and shoots often on the powerplay. And what a goal he scored! I'm so glad for Mark, his contribution is getting more and more important for the team.

Dutch
He is developing into a very good, and key player. It goes beyond the expectations that I had a few years back. Kuddos Mark, keep on going.

fourtrax
One game does not a season make. I still have my doubts about Streit as anything more than a third-pairing d-man and a power-play specialist (though he's excellent in the latter role). I liked what I saw last night. Broke up one Hurricanes rush that was pretty sweet. A good start for Streit

What does he have to do to impress you, and did you/do you watch the games (or listen only).

Gosh Weep... time to convince.... after his first preseason game you said: "I'm no impressed with on preseason game" after a terrific preseason you said "Let's wait for the real games, I'm not impressed" and now after the first real where he STILL is EXCELLENT you say "after one seaon game..." come ooooon... join us!!! hockey_gal89
A goal is definitely a great way to start your season...I think you'll see an increase in his totals for sure with that Power Play Spot.
Guest f30marco
i still dont why ppl are praising brisebois as if he has done something so spectacular and streit seems still be lacking some gratitude. at this moment in time and i will go on the line and say it, i would pick streit over brisebois any day. nothing against brisebois, he played a ok game IMHO, but streit deserves i think more credit than brisebois so far, he has been solid in pre season and after on game i can see why carbs wants to give him a legit shot at playing on defence, he wasnt the captain of the swiss team for nothing. he can play solid he just has to adjust like evrybody else. Guest habs_fan1160
I'm not a Mark Streit fan at all, in fact I'd consider myself quite the opposite, but holy, when credit is due, credit is due. He had a great preseason and a great game last night. He would have been bottom three I would have picked to score the first goal, so I was a little surprised when he did it. He's developed nicely, he's a great two-way player and he obviously worked very hard in the off season. If he can consistantly play like this, this guy will do positive things for the club. And despite the fact that I don't like Streit, I'm all for anything that'll help the club. Nice performance Streit.
