Guest CanadianMike
I don't get all the Lapierre bashing here (or on Team 990 at lunch time). He is a Hab he is being a pest for our team. What is the problem here?
Guest FlHabsFan
Dont mind when someone is being a pest. Just when they back down when it comes to accepting the consequences or depending on someone else to back up his words.

I hear where you are coming from, but it doesn't really matter and better he acts like a chicken than get his face pounded (and risk missing games). and...HE PLAYED 1 game!!! Guest Mauro_Biello
nah I just don't like this kinda stuff, whether hes a hab or not, IMO opinion he would still deserve to get his face broken if he doesn't back up his talk.

Yeah, but hes taking a big risk. If he keeps doing this, hes going to get boarded hard or take a nasty check by someone. Its like poking a stick at a dog. Hes gonna yap and snap at you at first. He may not get you, but he will remember. Then the next time you walk to close, he will take a chunk of your hide. Not complaining about the rest of his game. Just this one part. It's the same as the enforcer debate, we don't have a guy who can really go toe to toe with the big guys, so if we can't beat them, join them? Tuckers, avery's, ruutu's, tootoo's. They're annoying playing to play against, and if it's something that works, why not. Until we get that bonified scorer and win like we should be winning, then lets use every means possible to win and get an advantage (without resorting to goonery of course )

What is the problem here? I agree! This team as been lacking a pest/rat/ player that gets under other players skin since Claude "the turtle" Lemieux (I love Claude Lemieux). If Lapierre develops a little bit more I will love him. A pest is someone that every other team hates (I hate Tucker and every Leaf fans love him) but that is loved by his team/fans. Part of the problem with our present team is that, in general, all our players are "nice". Every team needs a rat!

The other thing a pest does is take the attention of opposing players away from his team mates.

So does Tucker So does Avery I really don't think you're much of a pest if the other team knows you aren't willing to go all the way in your commitment. But as long as Lapierre can get under players skin / get their focus off the game, it does not matter if he does not fight.

"You never get a 2nd chance to make a first impression" His first impression is that he talks the talk, but wont walk the walk. Doesnt have to be every time. But if the other guy knows he never will, then hes opening himself up for the other team's "pest" to get under his skin.
Kindred
Reich (sp?) tried to start something with Kostopolous and Maxim stuck his nose in, now I was alway taught the third man in gets the worse of it and judging by some of the comments I would say Lapiere is getting it pretty bad from some of the fans/ However Reich was looking for a fight and after Kostoplous declined he went to the next player which was Lapiere, after he declined Reich decided he would fight Boulion and lost badly. IMO Boulion wasn't finished what Lapiere started, he was finishing the fight that Reich wanted so bad. I don't think Lapiere needs to fight every single time he mouths off. Last time we played the Bruins Begin got under Chara's skin, hit him a few times then just stood there while Chara hit and slashed him. End result? Chara took a penalty and later lost his cool got tossed from the game.

Guest habs_fan1160
Should he? I don't think so - it's better to aggravate and avoid the penalty than to take a penalty with the other guy. The PP is always a good option.
Guest js2
Wow.. Two pages or so today of people calling him a coward. Who cares if he didn't fight. It's not like he went running to Bouillon for help.
Guest JL
Ask the players how they feel about playing against these pests and having them for team mates. It seems there will be two Camps when it comes to Lapierre - one that will love him and one that will hate him. I disagree. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'll definitely speak for myself here in saying that I don't dislike Lapierre, although I think he's way overestimated by some fans. It's the antics like last night that I truly dislike and in my books, it doesn't matter if it's Lapierre, Claude Lemieux or anyone else in the league. If you are going to bark at the big dogs, it's expected that you'll fight. No turtling and expect someone else finishing the work here. He's listed at 6'2" 200 lbs, so he's no Kenny Linseman out there. Bouillon at 5'8" shouldn't have to finish his work, or leave Kostopoulos do HIS job. At the end Claude never fought. When he first came in the league he would fight. But your point is true. Often the rats fight. But as long as Lapierre can get under players skin / get their focus off the game, it does not matter if he does not fight. I'll tell you one thing... It looks as though the instigator rule might be dropped next year as the NHLPA has held a vote and the players almost unanimously voted to get rid of that useless rule. At that time, he won't be able to back down and he will have to do one of two things: fight or stop his antics.
Guest js2
I don't think he expected anyone to fight Reich for him.. His job is to throw other teams off their game, not to fight and sit out for 5 minutes each time he opens his mouth. Like it or not, he got the job done last night. Guest habs_fan1160
I agree - it was a smart move not to fight. He's not an enforcer, so why should he drop the gloves? It's not like he ran crying and hid behind Bouillon - he didn't expect Bouillon to fight FOR him. And this is why players don't stay in Montreal and don't want to play here, after one game he's already got three pages talking about how much of a cop out he is.
