starting the season in hamilton vs. montreal seems to have lit a fire...well, after one game at least. but i'm pretty confident he'll play in mtl this seasons...unless for some reason he has an atrocious go in hamilton.

It was the first game of the season.

Already? Wow! Time flies when you're having fun!

I still preach caution as Lapierre scored something like 4 goals in 4-5 games then went silent for the rest of the season in Montreal. :P

MY question would be why? Was it where he was played? Was it stiffer competition to play against? Ice-time?

Even though he didn't put up a ton of points he was in some ways very effective. Besides, If he would have had a t-camp playing the way he did last season he could still potentially be with the big club... or so it would seem was the case.

Limited skills, going through a hot streak. It always evens out at the end of the season. If we only looked at October, Brian Savage would be in the Hall-of-Fame. :D

Limited or still undeveloped? A Brian Savage type in your opinion? Never thought of comparing him that way... could well be. In any case he will be back in the line-up no doubt... sooner or later IMO.

I think he'll see his fair share of Ice time with the Habs this year.

He's got the determination to make the team again, maybe a trip to the minors was what he needed to give him a little kick up the backside after a poor pre-season.

Sorry I wasn't clear enough in my message. I wasn't comparing Lapierre's style with Savage, but I used Brian as an example of players going through hot streaks only to hit a wall for the rest of the season. Situation comparison, not players in this case. :)

As for Lapierre, he's a grinder. He overproduced in those first few games last year, although he's better offensively to what he's shown the rest of the season. I'd say he could be a 10-15 goals scorer at the NHL level under the right circumstances.

Gotcha... kind of like Grabs coming up last year and looking wild out there and then thinking he will be the next Pavel Bure.... getting way ahead of ourselves. I wouldn't mind Lapierre's grinding on the 4th line at this point...

I guess we're all starving for some goal-scoring so much we can expect too much from certain players that will probably never be better than 10-15 goals a season.

He's doing "too* good"? He's played one game. Lets calm down before we give him the key to the city.
