I would have prefered Sergei Kostitsyn, but here's hoping that Lapierre takes advantage of the chance he's given... and not for 4-5 games like last year.

I will take the 4-5 games if it sparks the team to playing better. :)

Lappy has earned a spot with the team, he's energetic, he's not afraid to get dirty and he's not too shabby on the boards.

He brings a lot of energy to the ice, he's a great instigater, which will lead to the other team taking penalty's.

I'm not going to be overly surprised if he's in the line-up this year, I hear he's very well liked by Carbs.

absolutely my opinion. Welcome back Maxim! I'm sure he'll bring some positive energy/power to the team.

I can't wait to see him out there - only 20 more minutes. :)

If there's one thing that rubs me the wrong way is a player his size playing the pest and not finishing his job. He can't rel on 5'8" Bouillon to do his dirty work so he better learn to drop 'em! <_<

They were up 3-0 and there was no reason to fight him and take the chance of the Bruins changing the momentum. His job is to be an energy guy and throw the other team off their game which he seemed to be doing quite well.

I agree.

The Bruins were literally laughing at him tonight.

Good job to lay off the fight. He's not a fighter he's a yapper. The whole purpose of his role is to create energy and get under the skin of the other team - which he did. Every team has a guy like Lappy, the difference is most teams have an enforcer to drop the gloves.

I thought he played well, nothing explosive, but he was definately effective in doing what he was brought back to Montreal to do.

Gimme a break.. The kid did his job, he's not a fighter, he's a pest, and he did that job perfectly last night. You can see on his face that this kid is having a ball out there. He's a little Steve Begin with talent.

Go Mad Max! And WAY TO GO O'Byrne!

Begin actually drops the gloves. There's not much that bothers me more than antagonizers playing turtle, no matter what team he's on. Remember Claude Lemieux? If Lapierre wants to be named along the Tucker and Avery of this league, he'll have to learn to defend himself and respond to his actions, not let Bouillon do his dirty laundry.

The French media is even in agreement with that, believe it or not, as I was watching RDS last night!

The boston announcers were saying the same thing. That the bruins were giving him the "dont try it" look.

You gotta finish what you start. You cant go crying to a bigger player and say "please defend me". If you want to be taken seriously when you talk trash, you need to be able to back it up or at least pay the consequences.

problem is, Reich was trying to get something with Kostopoulos and Lapierre came out of nowhere to get into Reich's face, just to back off and do nothing, I love Lapierre but man that didn't look good, don't get between them if you're not going to do anything, at one point someone like Reich will go after him and he won't find it funny..

Laps made the gesture to fight, and backed off, being a pest doesnt mean being a coward. Im sorry.

Actually, if you jump into someone elses business, then it is being a coward. Its another to basically say "bring it" then go "just kidding!!".

Hes basically being a bully, but knowing mommy wont let the big bad man hurt him.

The bottom line is, if he's going to stir it up, and cause a guy like Komisarek to sit in the box for 5 or 7 minutes fighting his battle, I'm not going to be happy, Komisarek is not going to be happy, and sure as hell Carbonneau is not going to be happy.

You're not much of an effective pest either when the other team starts laughing at you.

I don't see how he's a coward -that's his role. He's an aggitator not a fighter. We all knew that last season and it remains the same this season. He's doing his job out there. He obviously doesn't have the size to be a fighter, but he's got the attitude to be an aggitator. Aggitators boost the energy level on the team - again, exactly what he's doing.

It's not like Lappy has changed from last year, he's exactly the same. Why is there a problem now?

He was the first one to get in there when Boston was swarming Price and the first one in there with scuffles. There are lots of guys on the Habs that don't fight. It's not Lappy's problem that we don't have an enforcer.

But knowing he wont back his words up, how long will it be before the other teams start ignoring and even laughing at his attempts?

And tell me this, if someone from another team was doing that to our guys, the first thing people would say is "That guy is a coward for talking trash, then not willing to back it up when someone calls him on it".

So true!! the only intention that Laps had on that whole skirmish was hoping the other guy woudl drop his gloves so laps could turtle and draw a fighting major from the ref.... cowardly way to draw penalties.

Let's pick one type of these players! Play either Lapierre, Begin, or Kostopolous. We only need one of these guys in the line-up at once and if I had by choice it would be Begin. Lapierre.....give me a break.

Don't we all laugh at Tucker and Avery?

Only one of these guys in the line-up at once? You mean on the same line at once? Even so only one of them can't do the proper work in some situations, if you want a real checking line you might want at least 2.

I like the energy the guy is bringing but I just don't like these kinda pests. I think that kinda play just lacks class and is unsportsmanshiplike and if it were up to me, there would be no Averies or Tuckers in the NHL.

Ask the players how they feel about playing against these pests and having them for team mates.

It seems there will be two Camps when it comes to Lapierre - one that will love him and one that will hate him. :)

Thing is I've learned to hate the Tuckers and Averies before I learned to love the Lapierres, so I wouldn't like that kind of double standard.
