This basically means that Hammer may not play tomorrow (he didn't train with the team today). He has a rash apparently caused by a virus. Carbo says he feels better but cant put on his equipement. They suggested salt baths and now they're looking for underware that would protect his skin.

:(

under armor might do the trick....

No, we go down only 1-0 but the 2 points are still not ours ;)

I didn't know my man Kovy was on pace for 257 goals

I guess if this keeps he will be the last player to ever wear 27

hopefully they find something

i'm starting to think he had (has) one of the kids virus than make you very sick when you get them as an adult , chickenpox or something in that line

given his age I would guess shingles (viral infection, rash, fever) but until we are told out right what he has it is just heresay.

hopefully he gets better soon

Either way it sounds rather unpleasant.

Man do we need this guy back in the lineup soon. We're simply not the same team without his presence.

didnt i hear something when he was first out of the lineup. That we gave our players some antiflu medication, and he had a alergic rection to it?

As that was the last i heard on this, i thouht it was kind of brutal as our own team gave him this medicine which put him in this situation?

Roman, get well soon! In the three games you've been away, we've given up 13 goals.

Wow. Just goes to show the importance of this guy. Absolutely crucial to the team's overal stability. Not only defensively but also in terms of getting the transitional game going. I.E getting that puck out of our zone and up the ice to create offense. He's absolutely vital in so many ways..

Agreed.

The intangible that I miss most is his calmness. He almost never panics with the puck in the defensive zone, even when there's a forechecker bearing down on him fast. As a result, he doesn't turn the puck over or blindly fire the puck back around the boards, out of reach of his D partner, and straight to an enemy forward, the way everyone else but Markov and Komisarek does. So many of our d-zone turnovers are the result of our defencemen losing their cool and making a hasty, suboptimal play, instead of staying calm, waiting an extra second, and getting the puck out of harm's way.

He's not playing tonight. They just (today) found something to wear under his equipment so that the rash doesn't bother him. He has not trained for too long, Carbo doesn't want to play him tonight. He'll practice tomorrow and may be back vs the Panthers. (Per François Gagnon of La Presse)

according to rds, carbo wanted him to play tonight but hammer said he was not ready because he had been away from the action for too long (he lost weight and felt too week to start tonight), said he would try a comeback tomorrow

Well if he felt weak tonght ill doubt he will be in the lineup tomorrow. Maybe for the weekend, I think having him in the line up helps the rest of the D, as it takes alot of pressure off of them.

The loss of Hammer of course hurt the team tremendously, but it was greatly magnified when we used Brisbois to replace him. Using any one other would have been a lot better.

I simply can't stress enough how badly we need this man back in the lineup. Our D corps is a shadow of its former self without Hammer steadying things down.
yup... not only does it force Brisebois to play more minutes but it surtaxes Komisarek and Markov.Along with #8, Hamrlik's been our steadiest defensive guy this year. His absence is HUGE.

Komisarek and Markov are not surtaxed, they play their usual number of minutes. It IS stressful when they're not on though. Whenever Hammer comes back, I'm curious to see if our defensive game will be that much better. Obviously, the d-pairings will be way more solid but Hammer will not make the forwards more responsible defensively.
