Guest Y ASK Y
good stuff! I didn't put back my Big 3 sig for nothing I like that "Big 3" sig. Tres awesome and cool! lol! Would be sweet if the Habs had a solid 4th d-men. Then they could be called the 4 Horsemen of Canadiens defense. War = Hamrlik Conquest = Markov Death = Komisarek Pestilence = ????? Glad the Hammers' back!!! Go Hammer!!! Go Habs GO!!!

fourtrax
Like a rock, this guy is. Just a rock. Hits, plays the puck, clears the zone calmly and efficiently, our D is way more stable when he's back there.
Kindred
after the 5 on 3 last night for the Flyers, a member made this comment "Imagine if we didn't have Hamrlik out there?" Now that is scary. After him our defense drops off quite a bit. One play last night that stood out for me was in the first period just as a PP was ending. He gets the puck at the blue line, shoots it in, the Flyers try to clear the zone and Hamrlik just grabs the puck out of mid air. Even with a Flyers player coming out of the box towards the play Roman stayed calm and cool out there and sentthe puck deep into the Flyers zone. Little plays like that help out alot. Watching the boys play without him, and watching them play with him in the lune up is 2 different things, night and day
Guest vaya_
It's like night and day having this guy back in our line-up. Came up HUGE on the 5-on-3 and inspired our other D-men (especially O'Byrne, his linemate) to step it up as well.
Guest QbGamer
Everytime i think of how great he is playing for us, i think back to Sourray last season, how he would have done the opposite, Not to mention Sourray injury problems this year. I know its not fair for us to compare him to sourray, he deserves better but you cant help but relate the 2 of them
Guest AlexK
I thought Souray was overrated. Everyone said he was essential to the lockerroom because he stood up for his teammates on the ice. People also said the powerplay would suck without his shot. I think the only way Souray could be useful to a team is if he could play forward at even strength like Streit does sometimes and play only on the powerplay. He should never be playing even strength defense IMO. He can't handle it. Anyway the Hammer has been a huge improvement at even strength and considering you play the majority of most games at even strength thats key. Guest QbGamer
But he could never play forward, we are kidding when we say i would be best for him to do so. Anyways back to hammer, i hope he has healed up from the flu + rash we need him in the lineup as much as possible

He lost his stick on that powerplay did he not? A 5 on 3 is still a 5on3 because Hammer doesn't need a stick to play solid D. It's just an accessory

Wing is the easiest position to play in hockey. It has the least defensive responsibility of all the positions IMO. Even with his slow speed he could get open and take shots in the offensive zone not unlike Ryder.

He does have surprisingly good offensive aptitude, and is able to read plays quite well. He is adept at picking spots to pinch or join the rush and has a good enough wrist shot. I would never take him off 'D' though.

Hes so bad on Defense at even strength I don't think he could be any worse player wing. Like I said all he has to do is get open and shoot. Souray playing D is like Bendan Shanahan playing D. Guest AlexK
I think it just goes to show how important it is for this team to keep it's top players healthy. You lose a top three defenseman, a top three forward, or a goalie then you are in trouble. Hopefully the team can stay healthy.
