I think it just goes to show how important it is for this team to keep it's top players healthy. You lose a top three defenseman, a top three forward, or a goalie then you are in trouble. Hopefully the team can stay healthy.

We've been very lucky, Huet was injured for a small amount of games 6-8?

Hammer injured for 5. About it when it comes to key guys

Your talking about Souray right? Hes so bad on Defense at even strength I don't think he could be any worse player wing. Like I said all he has to do is get open and shoot. Souray playing D is like Bendan Shanahan playing D.

No, I was talking about Hamrlik.

He doesnt get enough credit. Best Defensive Defenseman on the team by far.

The one play which i find totally awsome, is when hes going to retreive the puck from the boards, and he knows someone is skating hard at him, he just puts the brakes on and throws a hit into the guy running @ him. I saw it again tonight, Its a beautiful move i tell ya

Hammer's been solid for us this season. Despite the loss last night he played one hell of a game. He may not be as offensive as Souray was but he's a far better defenseman.

Plus the team has been able to find ways to score so losing Souray now, seems like the best thing that's happened to us.

We dont need another Sourray, we have markov + streit, plenty of offensive defenseman, its nice to see a solid stay @ home D

yes it has, quite a few times too at the end of november, beginning of december ;)

too true. but no one has had more ice-time than markov before this season (not the two before this one in any case)...

i'm so thankful he signed with us! i think our record without him says it all. (with bouillion playing his butt off, komisarek arguably the habs most improved player and gorges coming into his own we have quite the depth at d. how nice is that?!)

Why are we still comparing him to sourray, Heck i think hammer actually has more points then sourray this year.

Let me look this one up

Hammer has 4 goals 16 assists for 20 points +3

Sourray has 3 goals 7 assists for 10 points and -7.

Hammer has been soooooooooooooooooooooo much better then sourray this year, Hands down, Hes the man

The smartest defensive D-men are Hammer and Gorges. Both do not get enough credit. Hammer especially. He used to be a big minus guy in his early years with more focus on offense, but has become much smarter in the last 5 years. His stay in Calgary has solidified his defensive skills.

When did Montreal have it worst stretch of hockey?

When Hammer was out with the flu.

It was too much for Komi and Markov to shutdown the other top lines. Montreal needs two top D pairs to shutdown the other teams. With Hammer they have this.

I would think that Hammer will play against the Marleau line tonight. Good matchup. Hammer is very aware of how the Sharks play with his years in Calgary. He might even let O'Byrne rub Marleau along the boards so he can have some fun also. Might remind him of how Dion rubbed out Marleau
