Guest maffu
After that dreaded call on OT and the game winner the camera had a shot of Hamrlik hitting his stick against the boards. I like seeing that fire, it stems surely from the all Canadian matchups he's played in Calgary vs Edmonton and Vancouver and obviously is continuing here. He's been very good so far, great addition BG. He can only get more involved.
Guest maffu
a +1 after 2 games with no points, the man must be a floater I find I don't notice Hamrlik out there alot of the time because he does his job and isn't making the highlight reel for being undressed by the other teams forwwards. Exactly, its unfortunate that Markov made a brutal mistake on Toronto's 3rd goal, that was bad... Hamrlik has been very solid.
fourtrax
what is it exactly that people are expecting from hamrlik? to put up top NHL forwards points? if we dont 'see him' that much, cant it just be because he's doing his job as a D men and doesn't get into trouble? No, I'm expecting Hamrlik, at $5.5 million for the next four seasons, to generate points commensurate with his salary. You don't pay defencemen $5.5 million just for defensive soundness. I don't want an increase, I just want what he's produced in prior seasons, as well as better outlet passes in transition which translate into scoring chances even if he doesn't get actual assists. tommyv
The points will come, he's not even getting top PP unit time, Streit has that spot, so his point production from that spot is gone. Firstly, He is doing very reliable and respectable work defensively, the points will come as we start scoring more goals. Outlet passes mean nothing if all we do is score 3 or less goals per game with them.
Guest CanadianMike
Can someone remind me how much we are paying this guy and for how long. I think this is a signing that will come to biyte us in the butt (won't be worth it). They should have given him another # because his shot is nowhere near the real #44. franck5890
He's had three games with the team. He's here for the long haul, so let's give him a chance. Souray was great and we loved him, but his time here is no more. It may hurt, but it doesn't make any sense to old any ill-will towards Hamrlik for it. He's been very solid 5 on 5 though, which is why we brought him in, it's nice to have a 3rd DMan who can play big minutes and not be a liability 5 on 5 (no disrespect to Sheldon, but this is the direction that was needed). Guest smoke
Another great solid game by ham tonight. This is what we expect from him, to eat up 20 + mins a game, and not let the opposing team score a bunch of goals His +-0 was 0 tonight Hes +1 for the season Sourray is -1 for the season Watch these numbers get wider and wider as the season continues
Guest Hab
I thought he was very solid tonight. The only thing I can criticize is shoving Crosby into the net, but Crosby was headed there anyways, and it didn't cost us the game or Price his confidence. He made a lot fo good defensive plays, which is weird coming from a #44, my mind needs time to adjust.
Guest CanadianMike
I still don't like what I see. He is so big and yet seems so weak. Players will be going after Komi and Markov all season, it would be nice if Hammer could use his size a little more. In the Higgins topic someone said Higgins has a shot of a 6 year old girl. I think Hammer has a shot of a newborn. I miss the real 44.
Guest Brando
I miss the real 44. I don't miss getting shelled every night despite playing a "defensive system" - I think we have outshot every team we have played this year. Our defense this year looks very solid compared to last. Clearly not all Souray's fault. Whether or not Hamrlik is worth what we bought him for remains to be seen. As will our ability to replace his lost points, especially on the PP - But he is definitely an upgrade on D.
Guest smoke
lol, ok this guy is amazing, I was watching it on the american feed, so the penguins channel. They kept refering him as sourray, as there fools, and a few other player they caleld the wrong name aswell, like pleks they called bonk and so on. Anyways when ham made a great defensive play on there forwards, they then showed one made by the #44 last year, anyways that one ended up being a highlight goal by the pens, This #44 is 100x better defensively then last years,

You don't pay defencemen $5.5 million just for defensive soundness. Actually, with all the negative things against defensemen nowadays, (i.e no hooking to hold back forecheckers, goaltenders limited ability to play the puck in the corners, increased speed of the game) defensemen who are truly defensively sound are a whole lot rarer. Hamrlik does not make mistakes, he doesnt get beat...You just cannot get around him. In my opinion, he is exactly what this team needs...You cannot put a price on consistency. A lot of fans have been saying, "disapointed with..." but the truth is he's been very dependable so far. He's not noticable, but that's not a bad thing. He quietly goes about his game (from what I've seen he's very physical too), and plays well.

fourtrax
What's this about an 'attitude'? What attitude has Hamrlik displayed that is putting people off? Yes, he hasn't score any goals yet, and that frustrates me too. But as far as I can see, he works hard and hasn't said or done anything that would imply he has a bad attitude. Let's stop creating trouble where none exists.
