Guest 77Bourque77
Good Job Hamrlik! My dad was saying a couple days ago that this guy is useless and a waste of money. I asked him if he saw his stats tonight and he didnt say anything. Ignoring me? I think not! Stupid laffs fan.. did you tell your dad at least our defencemen do their job, and not put pucks in our own net
Guest habinto
did you tell your dad at least our defencemen do their job, and not put pucks in our own net And Hamrlik is cheaper than McCabe!!!!! And can play hockey!!
Guest St. B. Voyageur
At last we have a true #2 defenseman on our team and early on our top 4 have been as good as any team's. Gainey got the right guy in Hamrlik.
Guest overlords
Hamrlik will always be "The Hammer" agreed. MAYBE a variation of the "Roman Hammer" but he'll always be the Hammer
Guest patrickroycareyprice
1st post!!! Souray is an offenive defencemen and Hamrlik is offencive or end-to-end player? P.S i was impressed how hammer played against Buffalo.
Guest Oatmeal777
Hammer is a defensive defenseman who can chip in offensively, as opposed to a guy like Souray who plays the point and can occasionally chip in defensively.
Guest smoke
Just watching the american feed for the game, During the intermission, they stated what a big factor hammer is to ourteam, Not only has he made our team alot better defensively, But the calgary flames are now hurting on defense, because hey have lost him. They mentioned Calgary picked up Aucoin, that guy we were al talking about getting for samsonov, but he has been doing pretty poorly this year aswell Anyways they gave hammer great praise
Guest Hoser
IMO Hammer has been our best defender this year, he's been awesome. A rock in his own zone, and now starting to bring it offensively, this signing is making me happier and happier. Keep it up! We'll need it... tmash
When we signed him I was happy, but thought he was overpaid (not Gainey's fault, we had to get someone). But so far, now that he's chipping in offensively, he's worth every penny.

fourtrax
Who was it who was saying that Hamrlik had a free ride because he played with Phaneuf? Looks to me like they're missing him in Calgary quite a bit. I am totally chuffed with Hamrlik's play now. This is exactly what we need at the blueline for $5.5 million -- rock-solid defense and an unflashy but quiet stream of points. He is so calm in our end, even when there's a forechecker right in his face. He doesn't panic and start making bad passes, he just sticks to his game, and like magic, we manage to not only clear the zone but restart our own attack in transition. Guest Bolshevik
With Markov's play recently, he's jumped up to the most solid blueliner on the team this season. Of course, it's young, and I'm sure Markov's play will pick up. But still. Roman's a rock out there, and still contributes offensively. Big thumbs up from me. Guest Godfather
I think Markov has been playing well he's been generating offence straight out of our zone. As for Hamerlik he's doing good he's what any young defencemen would want to be like he is the total pakage.
Guest jennifer_rocket
Last night, against the Bruins, did we see Hamrlik paired with Komisarek? I thought that combination was out there a few times in the second and third. Perhaps Carbo's got a preferred shutdown defensive pair?

That was probably because Markov had just finished a shift on the power play, where he plays with Streit instead of Komisarek.

Guest NY-Habs-Fan
Hamrlik played a great game last night, and has been playing great all year. I for one do not think that he needs to put up big points to justify his salary, just a consistent D-game....although points are a bonus anyways, did anyone see his play last night when boston had a 2 on 1, he played the middle and batted the centering pass out of mid-air? franck5890
It's amazing what increasing confidence and knowledge of the system is doing for this guy. I loved the acquisition, but even I didn't expect him to be playing this well this early in the season.

Guest smoke
He had the most ice time last night. What a releif to have someone who can actualy play defense have the most ice time. Its impossible to say that Gainey did the right thing, but as of right now he is looking like a genious, as hammer is really that good upto this point. Remember last season, when people were saying Sourray should be a forward, as his defense was soo bad .. Lol ya right

Lol ya right even though I miss shelly I have to agree that he has replaced # 44 in a defensive way and he is setting up nice plays and im seeing more chances on the PP because they are not trying to feed one player. I still miss shelly's shot and physical style He is Montreals new Hot Czech
