With him now on the roster, Im afraid of the fans getting to him. Yes he has such great potential and not everyone becomes a star overnight. I just hope the fans dont eat him up for breakfast at anytime cause he's our best rookie. We dont need any Patrick Roy vendetta's still around. Its time to make up for the last mistake and never let this kid go.

Hopefully the fact that is still pretty much just the understudy will lessen the burden for him.

I believe that Carey's personality traits have played a large part in the decision to keep him in Montreal to start the season as Huet's backup.

The kid is as cool a goalie as I've seen in my 35 years of watching hockey.

It seems to me that, while his physical skills are unquestionable, it will be his calm demeanor that will serve him well in a town where the great majority of so-called "stars" are afraid to play.

Price seems to thrive under pressure where others wilt. I think that was the deciding factor for Gainey.

Best of luck, Carey!

CBS and the TV show The Price I$ Right should give him an endorsement deal.

I just have one request to the media ... STOP with the lame 'price is right' jokes! I've already heard that phrase 100 times in the past few weeks and we haven't even played a regular-season game! :P;)

Which Camp are you in? ^_^

I wonder how many starts he will get in Oct and when his 1st one will be. I wish I was going to his 1st start (no matter when/where it will be).

We saw quite a bit of Halak between the pipes last year, especially when Huet was down and out. I think this year will be similar for Price.

If Huet has a string of bad games, Price will be in and obviously if Huet suffers an injury Price will be in.

I think it is great that Price made the team. I do like Halak but Price is potentially a franchise goalie.

I think that Price will get around 30 games this season. This should help keep Huet fresh and allow Price to learn and win.

He just needs a new mask ASAP. And maybe a nickname.

My guess is that Price will start the 4th game against Carolina, even if Huet is playing well. If Huet starts off very average in the opener, Price could start the second game against Toronto.

Of course this is just my opinion. I think Gainey and Carbo are as excited as us to see how Price does in a real game with a full roster though.

It was a few months after we Drafted "Carey Price" and I remember hearing on the radio that Price wasnt being very good with his team at the time. Not wanting to practice, being a somewhat jerk to the staff, Lets hope that is all gone. I kinda see it in him its no longer there, so this post is pointless. Just wondering if anyone else heard the same i guess.

I live in BC and follow the WHL and I can assure you that there is nothing further from the truth. As a matter of fact, he insisted in practicing when his coach wanted to give him the day off, and he was nothing short but a leader on the Americans.

Further to that, when Dustin Slade quit on the Vancouver Giants last year, they asked the Ams about the possibility of getting Price as Vancouver was hosting the Memorial Cup. The Americans' GM spoke to Price who politely declined, wanting to win with his current teammates!

So I don't know who made up that stuff, but it's only a very weak and lame attempt at painting the wrong picture on Carey Price... probably coming from another teams' supporter I would guess.

We are going to see a lot of Price this year. If nothing else, I will go out on a limb and guarantee that he will start at least once any time we have games on consecutive nights. Huet isn't a horse and can't carry a 70-game workload a la Brodeur. He needs to be spelled fairly often or his stamina goes, which affects his focus. And that's where Price comes in.

The 4th game against Carolina is the home opener, and I think they'll give that to Huet, so I think Price either gets the 10th against Pittsburgh or the 16th against Florida.

Assuming, ofcourse Huet plays well.

If Huet is out with an ill wife (not sure what's wrong or where the story is even going), Price will be in net tomorrow.

Ahh, feels like last season; "Who will be in net this game?!?" lol.

The good thing about Price is he's not flashy, which may turn out to be a positive asset when playing in Montreal. When your goalie is constantly on the highlight reel for spectacular saves....it raises the media's expectations. From what I've seen, Price will get you 34 of 36 saves a game, but he won't have too many flashy saves in there. That just might help him float underneath the media radar for this season.

I just hope that while he's stopping 34-36 shots a game we're not allowing 40-42 shots against. B)

Good, cause you know what flashy (usually) means... out of position. I noticed that about Price from what I saw of him. He was very steady and rarely out of position. To the average fan this doesn't make him look great but to a knowledgable fan and guys like Carbo, Gainey.. he looks like an NHL goaltender... And now he is one!

By the Way Bud2790 congratulations you are officially the luckiest man alive.

When should Price get his first start?I would say Saturday the 13th against the Hurricanes at the Bell centre.

that is the home opener (too much pressure) I say the 16th (Panthers) He should save every shot (unless it is a shot from Zednik  (if he isn't injured).

I suggest Carey Price get a neck gaurd. Dont need a reoccuring of what happend to Luongo, twice.

Or what happened to Clint Malarchuck !!!! (I don't know, you may be too young to remember that one.)

The equipment is there, I don't understand why a guy wouldn't use it. Even if only to protect the contracts they sign !!!!
