Guest KovalevMTL
Or what happened to Clint Malarchuck !!!! (I don't know, you may be too young to remember that one.) The equipment is there, I don't understand why a guy wouldn't use it. Even if only to protect the contracts they sign !!!! Was that the one who got his throat cut ? franck5890
It was certainly one of the more frightening images I've ever seen in hockey. Thankfully he recovered, but when you think of the possibilities, it certainly scares you.
Guest fansince1975
YES....it really bothered me. Carey should use the neck protecter. I think he should have a plastic guard or neck protector. However, Cam Ward does use one either. Not sure why but maybe the masks are better at protecting then the older masks or is this just youth. I remember the Malarchuck serious throat cut. Very lucky the team doctor was at the game. I can remember a few times Roy getting his plastic proctor broken. I would assume that without the protector that Roy would have got a stick or puck in the neck. Price is getting a new mask to replace his junior mask. Maybe the trainer should just put a plastic protector on it. What's a rookie going to say? .... Thanks. I think Price should start the 3rd game of the season but would not be unhappy if he got the call on Saturday.

I agree he needs the neck protector. That was a scary incident with malarchuk.I'm surprised the neck protector isn't mandatory. I would really like to see Price start on Saturday night.it would be nice to see him win his first game on hockey night in Canada and against the Leafs. It would also be a huge confidence booster for him. Not that I don't think he could handle it, but I'd rather see him start in a less pressured game, since a first game in the NHL is stressful enough as it is without adding the national coverage and the rivalry on top of it. tommyv
Until Huet shows signs of a let down, there is no reason to throw Price in there unless we have back to back games. He will get his chance to shine soon enough, for now, he needs to grasp the NHL style, the NHL life, take advantage of having practice with NHL players taking NHL shots on him, and improve himself based on what he learns along the way. Guest wlsage
I'm sure we'd all like to see Price start on Saturday against the arch rival Leafs. But timing is everything. And it's a team thing, what's best for the team. Especially if Huet is playing strong, he's the go-to guy at this point...probably deserves the home opener...It's going to be nuts whichever team Price faces his first time out...I can hardly wait. Guest smoke
Hey we might see him play against the laffs, but i really hope not, as that would mean were getting owned and hut is playing poor, or injured.. 2 things i would not like to see.. Price will have his time, it doesnt need to be one of the first games of the season, probably best if he gets to watch a few games up close to see how its done

Guest fansince1975
Most likely. Florida is the weakest team and definitely not much pressure compared to Leafs or Pittsburgh. But I would rather see him start against Leafs or Pittsburgh. In theory the coach could assign first period or first two periods to Price and then remainder of the game to Huet. Would not matter if Price is playing great or just good. Just a test of how Price handles pressure of Leafs or Pittsbugh. I think that Huet played really well in pre-season and in opener. He will most likely get the start against Leafs but at some point Price will get a start. Odds are it will be Florida but could be very interesting if it was against Leafs with all of the media pressure. We might dislike the Leafs but I would consider Boston, Ottawa, Buffalo, and Carolina over the past five years to be bigger rivals.

Yeah but you don't pretense how your goaltending will be set up, why pull out Huet after two periods if he's kept the team in it? Or if the game is at a heigtened intensity. You don't send out Carey Price to be humiliated, especially by toronto in toronto. In his first game as well, no way. We give him those smaller games so that we can evaluate him, then later in he can start getting those big match-ups. The best way to protect him in his rookie season is for his first big game to be in a double header, and if he loses, so what? We can say he was in better shape that night than Huet was. Guest lynn2574
he should get a mask painted asap I know most fans hate his mask, but I love it because it's the mask he had when playing here locally. We miss him, but are so happy for him! I can't wait to see him play again... this time with the HABS.

Guest RadioGaGa
So, what do you guys think, does the Carey Price era officially begin Wednesday in Pittsburgh? They dropped him into the heat of the AHL playoffs ands he did just fine...so I'm not worried about Crosby/Malkin etc rattling him. I say he plays Wed....and probably until he loses. tommyv
Can't wait to see his new mask, I noticed he was wearing a plain white mask in Toronto, which means a new one should be on the way shortly.
habs4life2
Florida is doing bad this year, but Pitsburg is having a ruff start. Habs next 3 games. Guest Renko
Price's first game will either be against Florida or he'll be thrown into the fire if Huet gets shelled. Personally, I think they should play him Wednesday, but not tell him. I think he'll perform better if he doesnt have a few days to think about it first. Guest FlHabsFan
Penguins at the earliest, and Panthers at the latest I think. But I belive Huet should play against Pittsburgh. To show saturday was a fluke, for the coach to show he has confidence in him, and because you dont want Price to be thrown into a team like Pitt as his first game. And you know Huet will get the home opener. He has had decent luck against them. And you dont put your #1 on the bench for the home opener. So all signs point to the Panthers. Guest xe_liam88
I dont think Carbo has a lot of say as to who starts in net and which games will be played by who...I think Gainey is controlling the goalie situation!
