Great job by price. Very solid. There were some worrying times but the confidence that guy exudes just makes you feel better. With him in goal, there is less fear when we are running around in our own end with a lead at the end of a game.

I love the mask.

Carey always looks calm, cool, and collected on the ice. I feel lucky to have been able to watch him on home ice for the past 3 years. In all that time, I only remember seeing him emotional on the ice during a game once - this past Spring during playoffs. He stays very focused.

watching this guy .. i dunno its hard to describe how he plays. its like he's moving slow but fast at the same time. he looks like he's seeing everything in slow motion. very gifted.

i have to admit i thought putting price in as a little premature but i'm glad he proved me wrong! also, while i only saw the nd of the game and only heard the two goals on the radio (actually kovalev's was my dad yelling out the window while my friend was opening the door for him) but i went back to see the goals and i have to say the team also seemed t playing well for the most part. i think this game got me really excited for the season!

Oh man, this kid is unbeliviable. I really had no expectations before the game, I was just hoping that he can play a solid game without any big mistakes. And then he is the star of the ice.

look what i found http://www.tsn.ca/tsn_talent/columnists/bob_mckenzie/

what they said: - a potential Martin Brodeur look-a-like.

A potential franchise goalie.

Yeah I had to sit and watch The Hockey Insider yesterday when Mckenzie was talkin about Carey Price....I couldn't believe that Mckenzie put Price in the same class as Brodeur *saying that he like Brodeur is a potential franchise goalie*, and Ken Dryden saying that when Price came out of no where to help Hamilton win the Calder Cup *It was Almost Ken Dryden like* and also too when he said that fellow 2005 draft picks such as Bobby Ryan, Jack Johnson, Anze Kopitar and Marc Staal were all going to be pretty good NHLers but only Carey Price could be put in the same breath (or class) as Sid The Kid, and also that Carey Price Vs Sidney Crosby could be the start of something special....with all that being said, I as a Habs fan was very touched and honoured at what Bob Mckenzie had to say but at the same time nervous because I think he put alot of hype and pressure onto Carey Prices shoulders and I thought for sure at that moment Price was going to bomb out in his first game as a member of the Canadiens, but all I can say is that I'm glad Price played a pretty good game and that the Habs won.....Cheers Carey on an excellent game and hopefully there will be many more where that came from

Especially that McKenzie was one of the "experts" questioning Gainey in picking Price so early in the draft...

I bet you would be hard-pressed to get Mckenzie to admit that now...

I think that tune changed during the 2007 World Junior Championships where Price played spectacular and improved every game, trust me I watched and taped every Canada game and watched Pierre Mcguire and Bob Mckenzies take on their post game report and they were both always raving about Price and Jonathan Toews after every game and saying how Bob Gainey, Trevor Timmons and the fans of the Habs must be all pleased with his performances and that Montreal has themselves a future franchise goalie and that Price is the real deal

Very solid game yesterday, he didn't seem overly excited or nervous, rather stone-cold and confident.

He did not need to show the spectacular saves Carbo was talking about in the Press Conference yesterday because of his brilliant positioning and size.

Way to go Carey!

In McKenzie's defense, a lot of people were scratching their heads when Gainey picked Price in the draft, everyone from experts to ordinary fans like myself. It seemed an odd move because we had Theodore squared away to a big contract and we desperately needed scoring. But it turned out to be a genius move, given how well Price has played at every level and the fact that Theodore is no longer with us.

"Stanley Cup Playoffs", c'mon down!

You're the next contestant on The Price is Right!!

(I know, I'm awesome!)

Lol, that phrase is going to get butchered and repeated over and over and over and over again for the next 20 years. :P

Here's what I see in this guy. A rare combination of size AND skill. He has the natural ability and the frame you need. The other thing that strikes me is his poise in front of the cameras. He has that dry sense of humour and he's deadly calm. Oddly calm almost. Interesting character.

1 game doesn't make a season but there's no denying he lived up to the hype last night.

Its true. Experts to amateurs were ridiculing Gainey for that pick, I remember it. I, myself, was upset about it and I can remember myself suggesting more than once that we made that pick because Gainey had a plan that consisted of hording all the goaltenders in the world simply to keep other teams from having any. That being said, I'm glad we have a team of scouts and a GM that does not care what experts, the media or fans think or say or else I think we'd be nursing Gilbert Brule on our third line and no potential Martin Brodeur in the wings...

I know! What a fantastic way of describing his comportment. I love listening to him...He's almost scary.

Another note: How long are we gonna say its only one *blank*?

Its like no one can believe we have a great player in our midst. Ah its only one World Junior Gold medal. Its only one International Junior MVP. Its only 1 season after another of .930 save percentage with the Tri-City Americans. Its only 1 Calder cup single-handedly won. Ah its only one expertly played NHL game...

Face it. He's not a fluke. Get excited...Dont be shy.

I too was surprised to see Price get picked ahead of Brule who you would think would be a natural fit in Montreal. Brule was the star in the WHL and made an impact as a 15 year old in the BCHL. Price meanwhile did well in the U-18 winning gold in Czech Republic but still had to wait his turn behind Pogge to play for the national juniors. He was pretty crushed when he didn't make the 2005 team.

So Carey has to patiently wait his turn behind Huet and he's okay with that. Who knows, maybe the two will become a dynamic duo.

And speaking of Brule, haven't seen or heard too much of hiim lately...

I was just thinking of mentioning that, that at the time we just signed Theodore to a new deal and it didn't really look like at the time that goaltending was much of a priority in the draft for us...guess like usuall someone beat me to it

ha ha....Yeah I'm being cautious with my excitement. But after last season I promised myself I'm not getting excited this year for anything until we've clinched a playoff berth.
