Glad you could set me straight on my expectations. ;)

Personally, I think he'll be better than Hamrlik once he enters his prime, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Hamrlik is a first overall draft pick with a successful career, that's a high bar to set.

There is absolutely NO need to rush this guy. He will be a stud for us when he does make the team, but that won't be a for a few years.

100% agree, especially with the rules concerning when a player turns UFA coming into play. Much better to bring him in when he's ready & get X number of solid years out of him before having to decide as an UFA rather than rushing him & having parts of NHL & AHL seasons count towards his UFA eligability.

Actually the only years that can take away from UFA eligibility is if you sign a player at 18 or 19, after this all seasons essentially count, so unless we were to sign him this summer, he's a UFA at 27 no matter where he plays.

And that had better be all the, "Talk," does!

I want the next most flattering moment of his career to be suiting up for Montreal... Not Minnesota! ;)

Yeah, that was my first thought though as well; but I'll take it he was "speaking to his intended audience directly", being a Minne newspaper -- you do want to sound like a "home boy" then.

The 2008-2009 stats for the Wisconsin Badgers are available here: http://www.collegehockeystats.net/0809/teamstats/wism

Ryan McDonough has 2 goals and 3 assists in 6 games... ahead of all the forwards on his team.

For the record, Patrick Johnson has 1 goal and 1 assist in the same stretch.

With Valentenko, presumably, taking flight to Russia (bless his heart for giving it a go in N.A.) where does Ryan stand on our depth chart. In my opinion, he is right near the top! This kid (I hope) is going to be bloody good!

Mathieu Carle

Yannick Weber

Ryan McDonagh

P.K. Subban

David Fischer

Nicklas Torp

Alexei Emelin

Pavel Valentenko

Pretty sweet long depth chart. We can assume Emelin and Valentenko may never play for us, but oh well... McDonagh is gonna rule! :D

He had the best long-term potential before and after Valetenko bolted.

As for top of the best charts, he's not moving up this year unless there's some rule I have not heard of, and he's probably in Hamilton next year.

I'd say Yannick Weber, Alex Henry and Shawn Belle are top of the best charts because we could conceivably see them in Montreal this year.

All the more reason to hang onto Fischer and McDonaugh.I would love to have Emelin on the habs as a 7th D-man now,and let him take a top 6 spot if he plays well enough.

here is an interview, in french, with the coach of Ryan Mcdonagh, in a short (really short :P) resume, he says that Mcdonagh isn't the same as he was last year when he was dominating, he seems to has lost his confidence and makes mistakes with the puck, he has tallied 5 points in 8 games so far but is -6 and doesnt play much on the PP right now. His coach doesnt understand why he isnt hitting anymore, but seems to think that he is putting too much pressure on himself, and that the pressure may have gotten the best of him right now.

I would personally think that he is simply going trough a tougher phase of his development but will be ok in the long haul, he didnt lost his talent all of the sudden

Hmmm... I guess that's why you wait before putting a tag of franchise player on a young guy. Makes the whole discussion of the Kostitsyn brothers take a different turn now, doesn't it? :P

Possibilities:

- He's jealous of the attention Pacioretty got.

- His grades are bad

- He was rejected by a girl.

This is a ~20 year old college student we're talking about.

Add to that : he's thinking ahead to next Habs' training camp :D and the simple fact that the whole team stinks. They are 1-6-1 right now. I find it hard on the part of the coach to specifically target McDo when he's got this team. It's not like it was only Dan Boyle's fault if the Lightning sucked.

PK Subban is doing great and is a leader on his team. Let's stop making excuses. Here's hoping that he snaps out of whatever he's going through and continues his development or there will be some people looking pretty bad.

We don't need to find excuses, he's a project. He cannot be flawless right away now, can he.

I, for one, was joking around in my last intervention in this thread and I think DA, too, wasn't all that serious.

McDo could become the worst bust ever in the organisation (which he won't be), and TT still wouldn't look bad. He's got more home runs to his name than many who occupies the same functions as him in the NHL.

I am not worried one bit about McDo and he'll be an untouchable prospect to me until circumstances make him expandable and this isn't likely to happen as the Habs brass are pretty high on this kid, thus making the chances of them not preparing him a place to be groomed on unlikely.
