You are wrong. You only have to be 18 to play in the AHL. I've posted a few times the letter I received from the AHL concerning this matter a few times in different threads but it always comes up and not many seem to believe me so write the AHL yourself and you'll get the answer and then you'll know.

The reason why you think it is 20 years old is becasue that is the age that the players get released form there jr teams. The AHL recognizes and honors the agreements that the CHL has with there players, otherwise it would be complete chaos and they would be plucking players out of the CHL to play in the AHL.

If a player somehow made it to 18 and not drafted by a jr team and a AHL team wanted to sign him, they certainly could and that person would be allowed to play.

he speaks the truth, i remember him typing it up a few times. I just didn't want to try quoting you and getting it wrong :P

I think that PK Subban is going to make the Habs in a few years. He's a heck of a skater and an athlete, and he's got some really good puck skills. I have a feeling that he's our future powerplay specialist!!!

I wouldn't be surprised to see him follow the route of Mark Streit in terms of being a utility player... Playing third line minutes on defence, manning the point on the PP, and playing some hockey at forward too.

I could see that being the case in a few years.

I think that will be Weber, who has a an even harder shot than P.K. and more accurate. He also moves the puck better and is more responsible on defense.

On the other hand, P.K is a fury in fast attack roles and an excellent skater - I can really see him being moved to forward...

Yeah i heard about Weber's shot, sounds like I wouldn't wanna be in front of it lol...

Weber sounds like a good puck mover too. I can't wait for him to suit up for the Dogs.

As for PK, i could see him being developed into a forward, but I'd also imagine that he might be a force at the point on the PP too.

I enjoy how TSN has a video on our new giant goaltender, and Subban is trying to come up with a nickname. Subban is pretty darn personable. I hope one day he makes the NHL. He has the right kind of attitude to be an amazing team player.

Just watched that clip, it was pretty funny. PK really does have some character to him. In other news that goalie is massive!

Trevor Timmons says:

"P.K. has another year of eligibility with Belleville," Timmins said. "He's a key guy on their power play and he's tough to play against. Subban has more than exceeded expectations to date. He was on Belleville's top defensive pairing. He's got a tremendous shot from the point, which they use on their power play.

"He attended the Canadian World Junior Team camp in Ottawa in July. He was a member of the gold-medal team last year as a seventh defenseman. We're looking for him to make the team and make more of a contribution this year. What's interesting about Subban is he produces his best hockey at playoff time. We hope he can continue that trend."

Subban is heading back to Bellevile this year. Timmons would like to see him get another year experience and make the Canadian Junior Team to play at the international level. Right now there are enough of the Hab's defensive propsects in Hamilton with Valentenko, Carle and Weber most likely slotted for roster spots.

Next year Subban will be ready to play in the AHL and McDonogh and Fischer could be ready as well. With so many prospects in the pipeline I can see Mr. Gainey trading one or two of the prospects away for other prospects or draft picks next June.

Both Webber and Subban are gonna make the team within the next few years, mark my words on that.

If that don't happen, it's simply because one of them gets involve in a trade, because they both have the talent and discipline to make it to the NHL level, that's for sure, both of these kids are gonna play in the NHL.

Which team is Timmins specifically referring to here?

I would suspect Team Canada as he is already a member of the Bellville Bulls

maybe after this year in Bellevile pk might be ready for a year in the AHl and then after that year the NHL

All depends how he progresses

It's a big step from juniors to the AHL and an even bigger step from the AHL to the NHL

As Regis posted "Team Canada".

Last year P.K. was the 7th defencemen on the World Junior Team and only played a small role.

Alright, thanks guys. I was a little confused because of the statement concerning Subban's playoff performance in the following sentence combined with the article's source ;)

The playoff performance refers to this past year in the OHL where he led all defencemen with 23 points in 21 games losing in the OHL Final series to Kitchener (Yannick Weber's team).

Love his attitude and his skill set but he is years away from being a Hab, given his youth and how much depth we have on D in the pipeline.

Well, Hamilton would be a good goal for next season! Give him 2 seasons there, with some potential callups in his 2nd full Hamilton season, and then we shall see where Subban is going to end up. Heck, I have this ALL planned out. I should be Timmins' assistant.

Well, his second AHL season will be a lot more interesting, since by that time Bouillon, Dandenault, and Brisebois will probably be gone and there will be more roster spots available for prospects. Right now, though, we have 8 d-men on the roster, and several players (Valentenko, Carle, Weber) ahead of Subban in age and development.

Maybe you ARE his assistant. Duh duh DUH! :D
