Guest habs_fan1160
Here's a team that's in trouble. They lost Smyth, Sykora, Smith, etc., etc., and replaced them with Penner and Souray, two players which IMO aren't going to fill the void of losing Ryan Smyth alone. A lot of their youth is average too, I think Lowe is walking down a narrow path to the end of his career as GM in Edmonton. But on that note, I'm going to see the Oilers vs. the Wild on Oct. 25, should be great. Since the Habs aren't playing them this season, I opted for seeing Mikko. It'll be nice/weird to see Sheldon in an Oilers jersey though.

A healthy Oiler's squad is dangerous. Don't forget they also picked up Joni Pitkanen. Last year their biggest problem is that their best offensive defender was M-A Bergeron. They've got a solid forward corps, they just need someone to get them the puck. This year I think they can improve in the standings a lot - probably not make the playoffs, but at leasy break 80 points. They also got a decent backup in Mathieu Garon. That always helps. I still don't know if Gagner will make the team this season But Lowe has signed him today. For Souray, I already have an avatar with him (my Hero ) as you can see. That doesn't trouble me anymore. As far as I know Gagner won't be playing with the Oil this year, but he's expected to be part of the line up next season.
franck5890
They signed Gagner to an entry-level contract yesterday, and I don't think he's been sent to Springfield yet, so I think they'll be keeping him around.
Guest HABSrulzzz
Oilers named Ethan Moreau team captain they also named four alternate captains. Ales Hemsky and Shawn Horcoff home games and Steve Staios and Jarret Stoll will be alternate captains for road games.

I've read and heard that he wouldn't be making his Oilers debut until next season.
Guest habs_fan1160
I'll be watching the Oilers season opener tonight. I'm really curious to see how they do with all the youth on the team this year, I'm also excited to see how Souray does in his first offical game as an Oiler. Watchiing the Oilers game now (Shelly has the "A" ) 0-0 after 2 periods. I miss 44, but he looks good so far with this very young Oilers team. Guest CanadianMike
That was a close one. glad the Oilers won in shootouts. (1 assist for SOURAY). I really enjoyed this game and was surprised with the young talent the Oilers have (will be fun watching them this season).

Not sure why, maybe it had something to do with honouring that guy that passed away. It was a good game, very exciting. Great OT and great shootout. The game going into OT was definately Souray's bad judgement, but overall he had a pretty good game. They were a fun team to watch last year too and they sucked, this year if they can do better it'll be a lot more fun to watch them. That tying goal to push it into OT from Thorton was a beauty though. Wow, he's got an accurate shot.

Guest JL
The Oilers' goaltending last night was just pathetic! Neither Roloson or Garon could have caught a cold last night!
roy_133
Through 6 games Souray has 1 goal 1 assist and is -3... Probably not the start he wanted.
Guest habs_fan1160
Through 6 games Souray has 1 goal 1 assist and is -3... Probably not the start he wanted. I have a lot of friends that are Oilers fans now that I live out West. A lot of them are asking me to take Souray back, I keep telling them Souray for Breezer straight up. He's definately not a favourite, infact, I haven't met an Oilers fan who likes him yet, kind of sad. Anyway, I'm going to see the Oilers in 9 days...can't wait. Guest JL
Let's face it for what it truly is... the Oilers have a terrible team this year and to expect Souray to do it all is totally unrealistic, everyone knows that, Souray fans or Souray bashers alike. Still, I wish him the best as he's a great player, a great leader and seems like a great guy.

roy_133
Weird. I've yet to meet one in "real life" that loves him. Well, I have a feeling he will have problems there, people seem to think that a big contract makes a player a better player then he was before. Souray at 5.5 million is no better then Souray was at 2 million, the only difference is the expectations. Brisebois suffered the samething his first go around here.
