Guest thefooligan5
This is in response to the underrated movies thread. I realize that overrated movies are released on a weekly basis but just throw out a few blatant choices and why you cannot understand their popularity/success etc. My obvious choice ... Titanic - I avoided this movie like the plague for 6 years or so until I said to myself, "Why the heck not? It may even be pretty good." I was sorely mistaken. This was romeo and juliet but y'know, without everything that is good about a movie. There was no character to this at all and I'm quite surprised I even made it through the movie. All of the American Pie movies. I enjoy dumb movies and often times want to watch nothing but, but these atrocities were not merely light hearted jaunts in toilet humour, but rather what goes in the toilet. Had the first movie wafted into the winds of time without a successor I would have at least tolerated the garbage but they had to make, what, 3 more? 4 more? I realize that the powers that be want to keep us dumb, but at least pretend to put up a fight guys ... All Denzel Washington movies. Does no one else realize the man cannot act? Again, had he only done one movie, I would have commended his passionate performance but I soon realized he was simply yelling at someone on the set and they were taping him. I like movies with context not just two hours of some black guy yelling at me (not a racist comment but merely an observation). there are myriad more but i'll leave those blanks for you to fill in ...
