Guest thefooligan5
This is in response to the underrated movies thread. I realize that overrated movies are released on a weekly basis but just throw out a few blatant choices and why you cannot understand their popularity/success etc. My obvious choice ... Titanic - I avoided this movie like the plague for 6 years or so until I said to myself, "Why the heck not? It may even be pretty good." I was sorely mistaken. This was romeo and juliet but y'know, without everything that is good about a movie. There was no character to this at all and I'm quite surprised I even made it through the movie. All of the American Pie movies. I enjoy dumb movies and often times want to watch nothing but, but these atrocities were not merely light hearted jaunts in toilet humour, but rather what goes in the toilet. Had the first movie wafted into the winds of time without a successor I would have at least tolerated the garbage but they had to make, what, 3 more? 4 more? I realize that the powers that be want to keep us dumb, but at least pretend to put up a fight guys ... All Denzel Washington movies. Does no one else realize the man cannot act? Again, had he only done one movie, I would have commended his passionate performance but I soon realized he was simply yelling at someone on the set and they were taping him. I like movies with context not just two hours of some black guy yelling at me (not a racist comment but merely an observation). there are myriad more but i'll leave those blanks for you to fill in ... Guest baxus
i'm gonna go a bit back in time... ever seen "druids" with cristopher lambert? if you have, i feel sorry for you, if not, don't even think about it... let me just say that since i've seen fight club, i watch EVERY movie till the end before i pass my judgement... let's just say that i failed to do so with druids, and with one other film that mustn't be forgotten on a list such as this one, "how high" with method man and redman... oh, boy, what a lack of thought and what a waste of tape... maybe these movies shouldn't be mentioned here, on account of the fact they were never highly rated by anyone, but i just needed to do it... Guest gumper
Tallageda Knights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby Biggest waste of time of my life. Guest baxus
Blair Witch's Project (spelling might be wrong). I still cant believe this made theaters. it even had a sequel! i haven't seen the sequel because i've seen the first one... also, "the lord of the rings" trilogy is highly overrated... it messed with the book so much that i once said: "there's a good side to it, now i don't know what will happen next" if it weren't for those special effects, no one would give it a second thought... as for acting, some "stars" should be taken out back and shot... orlando bloom barely changed his facial expression during all three films, hobbits were so sub-standard it hurt... i mean, uruk-hai gave better artistic performances

I'm afraid I'm going to have to disagree with you on one Denzel Washington movie - "Remember the Titans". Sure, he did yell at people, but he was playing a tough-as-nails coach who was trying to integrate and keep together a school that had integrated from two high schools, one African American and one white into one high school football team. He had to treat all the players as equals, even though the previous coach preferred to deal with them privately. All and all, I thought this was an excellent movie. Wow, im absolutely in shock that someone would single out a 2 time academy award winning actor as someone who cant act. Im a little interested how you could call movies like Cry Freedom, Malcolm X, the Hurricane, The Mighty Quinn, Devil in a Blue Dress, Philadelphia, Training Day Antwone Fisher or Inside Man "movies without context"
