Guest Blockoman
I've always pronounced it New-fund-land, but I can understand the Newfoundlanders getting angry at the literal pronounciation.

Guest HabsfanfromtheROCK
Its New-Found-Land ! Its just that when we say it, we say it fast, so it ends up being, New-Fund-land or New-Find-Land(which really makes me mad). Theres my thoughts. Guest gumper
It's New-Fin-Land, and not the country Finland (I'm talking to you Larry King!), It's Noo-Fin(or Fun)-Land. There you go.

Guest MDAS
The way is see it: The province is supposed to be "New found land" right, agreeable so far? The province is NOT "New Finland" right, can we agree? (It isn't like Nova Scotia, which is New Scotland) So i call it New-Found-Land, but all together so it doesn't sound like im saying three different words Anyone agree with me? Guest Gumper-73
I thought Newfoundland (good people) was a separate country from Canada anyways. Or maybe that was Quebec!
Guest Manorrd
Why not just call it Terre Neuve and be done with it?

Guest Gumper-73
Are you actually serious? Newfoundland officially became a part of Canada in 1949. A little later then the rest! It was a joke.
Guest 1970 Habs
Why not just call it "The Rock" me boys (and gals). Lived in Gander in the mid 90s and loved the people. Took a while getting use to the women calling me "Lover" though. In all the places I have lived in Canada (and I have lived in almost every province) I would say Newfoundlander's are the friendliest and warmest people in this big country of ours. Guest 1970 Habs
Your so kind, there are also a bunch of skeets too Only speaking the truth. I went out with a girl from St. John's back in 1984 when I was going to university in Victoria BC. Her name was Norah and she was a Master's student who went back to the Rock that summer. She taught me how to make a Boston Cream Pie (which I still remember how to do to this day) and about the Complexity of Love. I have very fond memories of her, especially her smile.
