Guest GreekHockeyCoach
reading back in this thread it makes sense that carbo would use price tonight against atlanta for his home opener as opposed to very tough opponents ahead, the flyers and the leafs. i don't think it was a slight or a reward, just the numbers game. even in his press conference yesterday carbo said he spoke with huet, who understood, and said he was trying to find the right game for price to start at home. if anything it's a slight to the thrashers Looking at it from that perspective it makes sense, thanks for the post. It's an ideal game to get Price's first home start. I'm thinking Huet will start against both philly and the leafs.

Guest imdocrob
The way I see it is that I have heard alot of complaining about the way we have been playing and about ugly wins. The way I see it, we have played well with the talent we have and the only thing we have had is an ugly loss (Florida). I do see a pattern that we get up in games then go into a shell and let the other team back in it. I was optomistic that we had got away from that in the Carolina goal scoring 2 goals late when they pushed us in the 3rd. Unfortunately it was back to the same tactics in Pitt. I agree the boys may have been tired but if we had put the pedal to the floor in the 2nd period and blasted Pitt out of the building then they could have cruised in the third. As it was we were pushed into silly penalties at the end of the 3rd and it nearly cost us the game again. I hope that Carbo understands that the new NHL is about scoring and that no lead is ever safe enough. If we get up by a pair tonite then we need to make it 3 or 4. My point is don't let down you can always come back in games. Hell last year didn't this team have nearly the most comebacks in the 3rd period to win games? Hope all goes well tonite and GO HABS!!!! Guest jennifer_rocket
Great news! I'm glad Bouillon is in, as he's been having a solid year and Gorges still makes me a little nervous. Oops, I read that wrong.
Guest jennifer_rocket
i think you misread the post. my understanding is that boullion is out, which is too bad, he's been playing great; but i'm psyched to see gorges get another outing. his game really picked up against the pens, if he's even better tonight i'll be happy. he's still learning but his second game was a lot better than the first: hopefully he can keep it up! Yep. I misread the post. I was reading too quickly, it seems.

In all fairness, we played our hearts out against the Panthers, and had our foot on the gas for the whole game. We couldnt catch a bounce that game, and Vokuun was superb, I wouldn't say we didn't show up. Also, as for the Pens game, its not as easy as you make it sound to put the pedal to the floor with a team like the Pens. Once they start buildign momentum they are not an easy team to stop. I think we showed aton of heart by dominating the OT period and winning in the SO
Guest imdocrob
I agree thats why I was making a point that some in here have thought that we haven't been putting out the effort. I feel we have been in every game this year and am encouraged by everyone I see except Lats. Why the devotion for this guy? He gets beat in the corners all the time and with his size he should be like Higgins and go in the corner and come out with the puck 80% of the time. Higgins is a killer. Guest Handlanger
So Gorges is paired with Streit???? Not good.... first of all, I hoped to see Hamrlik-Streit finally, secondly, Streit will not be able to create offense if he has to watch Gorges.... I hope Gorges has an outstanding game... Guest sanman
Bouillion is out Gorges is in: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=221733&hubname=nhl On the one hand I hope the injury is not serious but on the other this supports the depth of the D on this team. A lot of other teams (Laughs) would have to go to the farm club. We have have Georges and as I see it, he should be chomping at the bit. He'll be fine. Guest bigsby
Anyone know where I can get some tickets for tonights game? try craig's list. i can't believe kostitsyn is out. i'm very disappointed. are you serious that streit and gorges are playing together? why?! i'd like to see him play with hamrlik. that's the best fit imho. streit and breezer should be alright (though looking at it, i'm going to miss bouillion tonight). Guest imdocrob
I think Streit and Gorges will get very little ice time and the bulk of the duty will fall on Markov and the Hammer. I am okay with this because I agree Streit will get plenty of time on the PP. Plus I would love to have the opportunity to buy a ticket to tonights game from a scalper. To be fair, Price has played against tough competitors so far and any rookie deserves a break against a so called weaker opponent. No offence to Atlanta, besides they can still be dangerous on the attack so price will get the occasional challenge.

JB-15
I don't see the team taking atlanta lightly at all. We aren't that kind of club this year. We have a lot more integrity and brains than that. We are confident, but we are not stupid. I think the guys are well aware of the talent coming into the centre bell and will adjust accordingly. I certainly dont think Carey Price will be taking Ilya Kovalchuk and Marian Hossa lightly. And for that reason, I dont think anyone else will either. I am not worried about that. I just wonder if we can beat them. Hopefully we can. Too close to call.
Guest habs_fan1160
I don't think it's so much "taking a team lightly" as it is playing at their level. When we play top teams like the Hurricanes we're able to score seven goals. Why? Becuase we're playing at a far higher level than we do when we play the Leafs or other basement teams. It seems like we adjust our skill to suit the other team. If it's a basement team, we feel we can play a few notches below norm and come out with a win, if it's a better team like the Hurricanes or Sens we play at a much higher level and we look better out there.
