Game Preview- The Montreal Canadiens meet up with the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday, which will be a battle fo two of the leagues best overall teams so far this season. The Canadiens lost in a shootout on Tuesday night, but are still a strong 6-2-3, and undefeated in regulation in their past 5 games, where they have outscored their opponents 23-13, as well as having the top Powerplay percentage in the league.

The Flyers are fresh off their third suspension in less than a month, as defenseman Randy Jones was suspended two games for a check from behind on the Boston Bruins' Patrice Bergeron. They won that game 2-1.

Despite their suspensions, the Flyers are unarguably the most improved team in the league, going 7-3-0 in their first 10 games after finishing in last in the 2006-2007 season. Off-season pickup Daniel Briere has been the star for the Flyers so far, scoring 4 goals and tallying 9 assists in his first season with Philadelphia.

Projected Lines- I have no idea what the lines are exactly, somebody post them and I'll try to get a moderator to edit them in or something. But I'm guessing Huet will be in net, as god as Price is playing, Huet is still our #1 goalie and Carbo woldn't sit him for 3 straight games.

You are definately right on Huet. The next two games will be tough and we need experience in the net. Huet will not sit for 3 straight and on Saturday agaisnt Toronto, Huet will be played.

Philidalphia is offensively minded so Montreal will need to counter with a strong forecheck but being careful not to exchange rushes. Let's hope Huet shows no rust and plays like he has been playing since the beginning of the season.

Oh and by the way, GO HABS GO GO HABS GO!!! Let's extended our point streak to 6 games with a huge win over Philly. Show Briere what he missed!

Looks like Gagne is also going to be scratched along with Kasperitus ( or whatever way you spell it  ). I think were catching these guys at the right time. They are ripe for the picking and we should be pumped. Huet is well rested and should also be at the top of his game. Should be a good one.

Lets just hope the Flyers don't do to our players what they've done to every other team's so far this year (think Patrice Bergeron).

For this game I would REALLY like to see Ryan O'Byrne replace Gorges. I don't believe Gorges is superior in any respect and you can never have enough strong hitting.

Kostitsyn needs to be in the lineup, scratch Latendresse. This idea might seem to conflict with me views on physicalty but how many heavy hits has Latendresse really laid on lately?

If one of the Flyers decides to take a cheap shot at a Hab and ram him into the boards from behind, he is going to get lynched by the fans.

well, with all the suspensions, one would think they're running out of players with that dirty trick in their bag?

first off, good job for the boys picking up that point tuesday night playing a desperate talented offense team like atlanta and keeping the point streak alive. this year the broad street bullies are back and better than ever so this game will be a true test of courage and grit. as much as i'm impressed by price's flapless play, i'm glad that the experience huet will be in nets tomorrow against this net crashing team. we'll need to take the same ruthless approach that we took on the bruins last week. this game probably can't be won by pretty plays, we'll need to crash their net early and often. i hope the refs will keep a sharp eye on philli and not tolerate dirty play. give em heck boys... and get kostitsyn on the PP not smokes!

We have our hands full with this team this year.

There tough, mean, dirty and can put the puck in the back of the net.

Kostopolous' role on the team is definately going to be an important factor in the game.

We're definatley going to need more than 2 shots on goal in the first period.

Finally going to a Habs game. My 1st of the season. won't be going to as many games as last season, so I will enjoy it that much more. GO HABS GOOOO

The boos will annoy me. Briere doesn't deserve the booing. He doesn't owe Habs anything!! I wish people would get over it.

Lol, yeah and after reading the recent Koivu crap, why would anyone blame Briere for not wanting to play here?

I want to see (and hear) three things tomorrow night:

1/ Ryder getting back to his scoring ways. Never doubt a Newfie!

2/ Unlimited booing for Brier. Worst than Lindros and Theodore put together.

3/ Most of all ... a Habs win

I never even wanted the guy to sign with us, he was asking for way too much money over such a long term.

Regardless, I think it shows a lack of character on Briere's part for taking less money to go to Philly. I personally wouldn't bother booing the guy because it's not even worth it, but I will enjoy watching him get booed all night just to throw him off his game.

DANNY BOOOIERE!!!!

more goone-ness in sight for tomorrow?

From the Flyers site:

Flyers defenseman Derian Hatcher will be having right knee surgery tomorrow and will be out for the next three-to-four weeks. Nate Guenin has been recalled from the Phantoms.

Guenin' profile ... mean streak? <_<

so i guess my earlier post about running out of tough guys needs to be revised

I hope Daniel Briere gets booed out of the province. :)

(Even though I didn't want him on the team, it was just cowardly of him IMO)

You and me both.

And you can add me in to that group!

Alot of people don't want Briere to be booed tomorrow night, but it's going to happen...and like you, I will be shaking my head with a smile on my face.

Honestly, if I was a player I dont think I would want to play in montreal. The fans are passionate, yes, but they are also fickle. The tax here is worse than in any other NHL city. Imo the suits inside the team seem to no longer care about the canadiens history, but now just want to earn money on 'events'. Most the jeresy's are retired and I probably couldnt pick the one I wanted. Montreal traffic/winter. French politics. Would have to play the leafs 8 times a year and just the sight of them makes me sick. Media Drama.

......Perhaps he found a better school for his kids, more activities for his wife ect... Why are you people so quick to judge when you have so little information about the said subject.

GO HABS GO!
