Best defence is a good offence...If were constantly on the attack pushing for more, then the pucks not in our end is it?

Isn't that a good thing? Keeping the puck in their zone?

Wait, are you agreeing with what I'm saying or contradicting it?

We should just be last years Buffalo, Play offensively and run and gun it

Agreed. But all our coaches and Bob were all defensive players so that won't happen. I'm guessing that's why we draft so many defensemen too. However, I don't think it's possible to win a cup with a defensive system in this new league. Anaheim was a great offensive team with great team defence. I don't think they played a defensive system though.

The boys might have taken Nashville lightly. There will be none of that on Tuesday as everyone knows the best team in hockey is in town. Habs will be fired up and desperate and play inspired against the Red Wings. A win or draw will re-establish some much-needed confidence.

AGREED!!

This is what I've been saying all along and it's obvious that's it's Carbo's fault for trying to play defensively with offensively oriented players. Worst part about it, these offensively minded players that we have are fast as hell. Can you imagine if we had a coach like Ruff or Hitchcock and we played offensively with the goalies we have we'd be sitting pretty at number 1 in the east.

Agreed, but I think the defensive system is dictated by management , not just Carbo.

i don't think you heard Carbo's comments after da game... that was the first line...and streit played well

riberio never fit here because everyone hated him...how do i know...when you fight with your captain you deserve to be sent somewhere else ...n the whole 3 amigoes thing...

PRICE should be number one because Huet can't stop a peewee player during shootouts

haha...shoot outs! riiiight! thats why we suck so bad...cuz we cant win in shoot outs! nice invention!

I understand your need to keep things civil here, and I agree. But I also think that after this complete debacle tonight and other recent history for this team, you're going to be seeing a lot more frustration until something changes with the Habs. The owner, management, and players on this team need to know, and have an obligation I think to see all of it.

I've been a fan since 1968, so I've seen lots of highs, and yes, some pretty dark lows as well. Today, I drove back from Niagara early to beat the winter storm moving in. One of the first things I did after getting home was turn on RDS. It was the 3rd period, and the game had been on literally for 5 seconds when I got to see Huet mishandle the puck and of course, the goal against. I turned to my wife, a diehard Leafs fan (grrr), and said "watch this - it will not be pretty". Half an hour later, my prediction had come true, the team had blown it, again.

Shortly after it was done, I went around the house, collecting every scrap of CH material I could find - books, flags, banks, videos, pillows, jerseys - you name it. They're all tucked away now, in a giant plastic storage tub. This team has no plan, no heart, no pride. And frankly, I've had it. Sad, so very sad, what this once great organization has become. The product on the ice is what it is, you can't sugar-coat it.

I'm afraid to say anything to bash a player cause i'll probably get banned.

I agree though, this team needs to be spanked into shape. Severely. Cause it's just disgusting out there.

its pretty sad that this team has caused a fan since 1968 to do something like that. i know how you feel.

Well I am done in this thread...I am talked out. 2 Points would of been great but one is better than none.

The big test on Tuesday, Habs for life.

Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow.

how long can this last? with no movement or anything? it seems like we are content with the product on the ice. i really hope to see gainey somewhere on tv or on the radio. at least to give a vote of confidence to carbo or something. anything to light a fire.

da first thing Gainey should do is send gorges down...bring up o'bryne adn let carbo play him with hamrilik....because brisebois is not a number 4 d - man.....

Ok ladies & gentlemen I'm much calmer now. The sooner we put this ugly loss behind us the better. What do you all think is the reason for our recent slump? I had a tough time accepting the benching of Begin and Kostopolous tonight and keeping Smolinski. Anxious to hear what you guys think. The sun will come out tomorrow.

cuz Nashville don't take their captain and play him on the third line with a defenseman. cuz Nashville doesn't trade away players like ribeiro because they don't fit into our imaginary system! because Nashville don't treat their #1 gialies like we do....need I go on?

No Nashville just trades Kimmo Timonen and Scott Hartnell for a 1st round draft pick that they traded TOO Phillie for Forsberg 2 months earlier. So Please! Don't praise Nashville's management.

And Ribeiro is a cancer....Shows up half the season and disappears upon crunch time. The only reason he's having remote success in Dallas this year is probably because Dallas doesn't have a lavish club scene.

So please, ease up on the whining a bit.

Exactly lets put this behind us and concentrate on the next one, which will definetly be a make or break game.

Go Habs Go!!

GORGES IS DOING FINE...WHAT HVE YOU BEEN WATCHING....HE CAN BARELY MOVE THE PUCK OUT OF THE ZONE.....O'BRYNE WOULD BE A WAY BETTER FIT I MEAN NONE OF DA D-MEN CAN HIT IF THEIR LIVES DEPENEDED ON IT AND HE AT 6'5 can give way more then gorges......Smolinski is just being overpaid he's a fourthliner at 2 million bucks per year....no trade claus he has.....can't do anything ....

Yeah but shootouts should have never been added to the game. Teams are going to start recruiting players for the shootout only.

totally agree....if i recall dagenais was nothing but a specialist ....now he's in da swiss 2nd league....can't even make their top leagueThe one night all goals are scored 5 on 5 somehow and the whole season powerlpay is what we've been living on ...we can't get one powerplay goal that would have made the difference...ironic

sorry, but i cant fault gorges on any of the goals. the writers on habsinsideout agree, take it for what its worth. you can say what you want, but on the other hand, there is always room for improvement, and if that meand o'byrne replacing gorges, fine.

That still makes no sense to me, to bench Begin and Kostopoulos when they've been two of our hardest working forwards thus far and keeping Smolinski and Brisbois. What a joke!

Guy Carbonneau told his players this was the low point of their season. Cristobal Huet, bombarded with 44 shots in regulation and OT, then beaten twice in the shootout, said the Canadiens were "fragile between the ears right now." In a somber dressing room where the only sound was tape being pulled off and flung away, Christopher Higgins described the loss as "embarrassing." "We can talk all we want," Higgins said. "We've got to get the job done on the ice. "We have to play with passion and with pride. How are we going to enjoy a day off (on Sunday) after blowing a 3-0 lead in our own building?"

it'd be a major improvement....just like putting streit back up on forward for the rest of year and puttting back dandenault on defense....that would be another wise move
