Montreal has to keep their smart skating going. What I mean is Montreal is finding the right times to explode and fly past the defense setting up numerous odd man rushes. They have also been getting into the open areas exampled beautifully by Latendresse who has been so oppurtunistic.

I have all the confidence that Montreal will be able to win this game and get 3+ goals past Lundquivst.

Keys:

- Pressure the defensive game of the Rangers (who played last night)

- Limit unecessary penalties (I say this because O'Byrne took a good penalty in Florida that prevented a goal)

- Don't try easy shots, but don't overpass either

- SCORE (First if possible)

Montreal have been getting a lot of oddman rushes lately, haven't they? Is it that Carbonnea's trap is finally being executed by the players more correctly, or just some good luck? Either way, it's nice to see the team doing well on this road trip. No matter what happens tonight I think we can call the season-high road trip a success.

Is Locke expected to play tonight, or watch from the pressbox?

The Score is reporting that Koivu is still questionable for tonight's game. With the injury to O'Byrne and Streit moving to defense, the Canadiens would be short a player. This is where Locke comes in.

All TSN said was he will be with the team in NY, nothing about playing. Just insurance in case Koivu can't go.

Thanks for the update. Whats the story on O'Byrne?? What injury and how long??

I just saw that O'Byrne has a broken thumb. Kind of makes you wonder why Chipper doesnt end up back in the lineup instead of calling up Locke. I doubt they would be bringing him up unless he is the planned replacement if Koivu cant go which means Chip continues to sit.

losing o'bryne sucks because we're a small team and lately he's really evened out that size differential, not to mention he's one of those hard nosed, hitty kind of guy that we need. but at least he did the fighting so that the komisaurus didn't have to. the current lines are working although i don't like that chipchura is being scratched lately because he is our best defensive asset on the forward lines. i hope locke scores a goal and an assist tonite as he's been in the ahl for too long.

carbo said (on rds, yesterday?) that chipchura would be back in the lineup with streit replacing o'byrne on d. i imagine locke will only play if koivu can't.

From my understanding Bigsby is correct.

Well with the habs its usually black or white, we convincingly win, or we get destroyed... we rarely have close games :)

I think I have a good feeling about this one though

I would really like to see Chips in the line- up tonight. He will bring some added energy. Too bad about O'B. His play on this road trip was noticeably good. Let's hope our dmen's tempers stay in tact re Avery. If we play our game with speed, move our feet, and shoot a lot - we'll do okay. The Ranger's were beneficiaries of many power plays last night. We cannot afford to play the type of game the Leafs played last night. Assignments and speed are keys for a big'W tonight.

Well, I think that the Laffs took too many stupid penalties, were running around, and were confused a lot of the time. It won't happen with the Habs. They are focused and have finally got some good lines, good D, and Huet.

The Habs WILL WIN, cuz I said so :D

No doubt in my mind. :P

Big test tonight without Koivu. He is the heart of this team and is the key to that first line but I don't think Carbo should change the other lines. Insert Locke with Latendresse and S. Kostityn and give them about 10 - 12 minutes.

He's already playing in place of Streit on teh fourth line. Locke is needed or else we WILL BE A PLAYER SHORT! Is that allowed lol?

Why not just insert Chipchura?

Chips is already replacing Streit. Streit is replacing the injuried O'Bryne. Therefore Locke is replacing Koivu (out with flu).

Montreal is missing Begin (injuried), Brisebois (injuried), O'Bryne (broken thumb) and Smoke (serious injury).

Good thing that Montreal has depth. Not like we are replacing Koivu but the team should be able to put out two good offensive lines, two checking lines, and 4 very good defencemen and two okay defencemen. Plus two very good goalies in Huet and Price.

Montreal should win 3-1 or maybe even 6-1 over the Rangers. They had to play in Toronto last night so they should be more tired then Montreal.
