Guest kx250
Saw this last night and it has got to be the most overhyped movie ever. It was the worst movie I have ever seen. Do not see it.

Guest habs_fan1160
I actually have no desire to see this movie. My friend went and saw it and said it was one of the worst movies she's ever seen. Before that I had little desire to see it, after that I had no desire to see it. gracie12
I will hold out making judgement until I see the film, of course, but I do wonder: those that dont like it...could you let me know a few movies you do like? Im not trying to be clever or coy - im just trying to make a frame of reference. The main reason that I ask is that while I dont agree with everything a critic such as, say, Roger Ebert might say, I do often agree with a fair bit of it. Further, i have a 'history' with some critics because Ive agreed on movies Ive liked - and hated - alongside of them. Someone who owns the complete collection of Ernest movies, for example may not give me a clear account of what Id like to see in a film. Again, im not saying ANYONE in this thread falls into that category, it would just be nice to get an idea of whether the rest of our tastes are the same. As this film currently has a 95% rating on rotten tomatoes, i am having a hard time believing its that bad. Its also the top rated film on that site for the entire year of 2007... Dont get me wrong, ive seen films get a high rating that I felt were abysmal (blackhawk down, one of the sorriest excuses for US propaganday trying to veil itself as a platoon or apocalypse now type of poignant thought provoking film received a 75% for example) it is rare. The Coen Brothers have produced some of the best american made films in recent history (Fargo, the Hudsucker Proxy, The Big Lebowski, O Brother Where Art Thou) but also some stinkers - the Ladykillers (who in their right MIND would think it was a smart idea to remake a film that was as close to perfect as a comedy could be? If you havent seen the original, go rent it - its brilliant). I would be interested to hear if people that didnt like this film also didnt like a movie like Blood Simple which is perhaps their single greatest acheivement...but since it was low budget (small name actors, lower quality lighting, sound, sets) and contained very little action, no cliches or formulaic plot twists - just good, well written drama - might not interest a lot of people these days... Guest ChuckNorris
This movie was pretty good IMO. My fav thing about it was Anton Chirguh, the worst psycho in movie history. The actor playing him deserves an Oscar. The dialogues were pretty good, so were Tommy Lee Jones' monologues. But if you thought Transformers was the greatest movie ever made, then you'll probably not be able to sit through the entire movie and understand the ending. Guest kx250
I think the entire plot for this garbage of a movie was written on a napkin during some ones coffee break.

gracie12
I think the entire plot for this garbage of a movie was written on a napkin during some ones coffee break. Im sure that Cormac McCarthy - you know, the Pulitzer Prize winnning author of the book this film was (faithfully - from all accounts Ive heard) based on, would be interested to hear that. Guest "Rocket"
I never seen or heard any hype about this movie here in Montreal, i think it was allright, exept the ending a la sopranos style where nothing about, im still amaze it didn't end by a black screen lol. Guest habs_fan1160
well your first mistake is taking advice from a girl on a movie.... Well considering I'm a girl...but she's not the type to like chick flicks and neither am I. My favourites include 300, A History of Violence, American Hisory X, etc. I can't think of too many "chick flicks" that I actually like.
Guest lpkyer
It definitely holds up to its reputation. THE best film I've seen this year. Maybe it's just not your style. The plot is just much more deeper than something written on a napkin lol..
Guest habs_fan1160
I did like the Big Lebowski too. I can't see me paying for this move but when it comes on Movie Central I'll probably end up watching it.

Even though it's probably the best modern western, I can't really see my mom or my sister liking this movie, it's not exactly the type of movie girls will enjoy watching. May be something girls might enjoy. My parents went to see it and my mom really liked it. It's not the fact that it's a boy vs. girl movie or whatnot. I just didn't think it looked very appealing. Like I said I'm not into the traditional "chick flicks" I like the maffia movies, war, killing, etc., etc. It just doesn't look like a movie I would enjoy. Not because it's considered a "man" movie, but because it looks dull. Give me a good shooting movie anyday, this one just doesn't look very action packed. It makes no sense and it,s Boooooooooring. lol.......please elaborate I thought the story made perfect sense, except for the ending , which left me baffled In fact I wanted to go see it again but it's not in any theatres near by FWIW, I would recommend it .......... this one just doesn't look very action packed. Not in a Live Free , Die Hard or Bourne Supremacy kind of way but it was IMo a very interesting movie If you liked Fargo , you might like this also. gracie12
His post was much more elaborate than your 1-liners... I wouldnt sweat it. The negatives of the movie come from one person with one-liners and no backup...and someone else whose friend didnt like it (although she herself hasnt seen it yet so... ) The 5 other people who have seen it now (you can add me to the list) all liked it

You have 2 lines , big deal. Everyone I know who has seen or heard about this so called movie says the same thing IT SUCKS! Big ripoff. I don,t know what kind of movies you like, but if you like this one I question your taste or lack thereof. BYE
