He was not named to the alstar team dispite a tremendous effort this season, he will be ;looking to prove their mistake as he goes for his 14th win of the season. The last time the New York Rangers hosted the Montreal Canadiens, they capped off 2007 with an exciting overtime victory. Less than two weeks later, the Rangers are still searching for their first win of the new year.New York looks to end its season-high losing streak at five games Saturday night against the surging Canadiens in another Original Six matchup. The Rangers (20-19-5) rallied to beat Montreal 4-3 in overtime on Dec. 30 for their third consecutive home win over the Canadiens (22-13-8). That victory also ran their overall winning streak to three games, during which they scored 14 goals to end 2007. They have opened the new year by scoring only 10 goals in dropping five in a row (0-4-1) while falling to the bottom of the Atlantic Division.New York last lost six consecutive games during a seven-game skid from Dec. 16-29, 2006.The Rangers appeared to be in position to end their current slide Thursday at home against Philadelphia, as left wing Ryan Hollweg scored twice to put them up 2-0 in the first period. However, they failed to capitalize as Henrik Lundqvist allowed six goals on 18 shots the rest of the way and they lost 6-2."I don't know what happened," said Lundqvist, who had 24 saves. "We were off to a really good start. It slipped out of our hands and we never got it back."Lundqvist has struggled of late, going 2-5-2 with a 3.81 goals-against average in his last nine games after posting a 16-11-2 mark, a 1.98 GAA and six shutouts over his first 29 contests. The goaltender hasn't won since making 18 saves against Montreal on Dec. 30, losing four starts with a 3.97 GAA and .843 save percentage. He has won his last three home games against the Canadiens with a 1.33 GAA.The Rangers could use some more production out of captain Jaromir Jagr, who has one goal during the slide after scoring four in the previous three games, including one against Montreal. He has five goals in six career games against the Canadiens at Madison Square Garden, where he has scored nine of his 12 goals this season. The Canadiens, winners of five of their last seven games (5-0-2), are looking to build on a 5-2 win at Boston on Thursday that opened a four-game road trip.Alexei Kovalev, who had a goal and an assist against the Bruins, has been a big part of Montreal's surge over the last seven games, scoring four goals and assisting on six others. The right wing leads the team with 19 goals and 41 points after getting 18 and 47, respectively, last season. He posted two assists in the last meeting with the Rangers, his former club from 1992-98 and 2003-04.Montreal is also getting solid play from Cristobal Huet, who made 23 saves Thursday. The netminder is 5-0-1 with a 2.47 GAA in his last six starts. His lone loss in that span came against New York on Dec. 30 when he stopped 17 of 21 shots, but was beaten by Brendan Shanahan in overtime.Associated Press

Guest HabsFanStuckInToronto!

I'm looking for a vengence game for the Habbys tonight. No way were they happy with their OT loss to the Rangers to close out 2007.

They are going to want to take this game and do it in a nice fashion. I am SO PLEASED with how this team has been playing recently, we have scored so many goals (going 4.6 goals per game over the last 7) and have not surrendered many in those 7 either.

Huet will need to be close to his best if we want to win tonight. And I feel that as long as he finds a way to win, he should not be blamed for letting in a bad goal. If it doesn't cost us who cares. But tonight, I don't think he will let in a bad one.

So Montreal, LETS HAVE ANOTHER STRONG GAME AND GO HABS GO!

weak goals should just not be allowed in. It may not haunt us now, but it will hit us hard in the playoffs if Huet can't stop the weak shots.

with that said

hope Huet finds himself tonight, and hope the Habs keep up the effort.

I do not believe that there are any LEGAL streams out there, and members here know that discussing it (or any other illegal activity) could result in a permanent suspension from the forum.

Edit (by Graeme): CBC stream is legal and may be discussed openly

I'm hoping to see kovalev take advantage of lundqvists less than stellar play in his last few games. He has close to 4 g.a.a since the new year started.

Also, martin Straka is out for tonights game, shanahan IS playing but is apparently banged up pretty bad.

NHL Center Ice Online streams the games for a cost, but I believe that is only open to US/CAN residents only. CBC does stream HNIC games as well for free but I don't know which IP address' it recognizes.

Also forgot to add that apparently Avery is out as well, this is all per a article in the gazette. I think it was written by boone.

According to the canadiens.com front page article, huet is starting, not sure on lines yet.

Has the starting goalie and lineup been announced yet?

Looking forward to another 5 - 2 victory.

I ,for one, don't think Huet will have a bad game, but if he does seem to be struggling a little,I would hope that Carbo gives Halak a chance to show that he never should have been over-looked in the 1st.place.I believe ,though, that Huet will have a whale of a game to show that he should not have been left off of the all-star roster and,the Habs will be out to take it to the Rangers after the last game against them.Let's go Habs!!!I would love a Kovalev hat-trick! :)

This could very well be the toughest game of this 4 game trip, Rangers are coming off a 6-2 beating from the Flyers so they will be looking for revenge, the Habs are hot since the start of 2008, should make for a good game

GO HABS GO!
