I missed the game tonight because of a wedding but just watched the highlights. I know games like this happen every now and then but I have a problem understanding 19 total shots on net when the team had 8 powerplay chances that included 2 5 on 3's. It's a tougher pill to swallow knowing that the Rangers haven't won a game this year and were without Brendan Shannahan. This team owes us a strong game on Tuesday and they better show up for 60 minutes. I don't mind giving Halak the start but I'm sure Carbo will go back with Huet who I thought let in 3 softies tonight.

Huet played perfectly fine, save the last goal. Our defense was nonexistent the entire game and frankly I think Huet was fed up on that last goal and figured "Why should I even bother?"

So I'm not a big Kovy fan, I never have been, not everyone is. I agree that he has an unmatched skill set, but that alone does not make him a great hockey player IMO. And it doesn't change the fact that I think he played bad tonight. But hey, it's just an opinion. You don't have to agree with it.

No need to single out one person when the entire team played terrible.

Funny how Kovy is considered to be the such a team leader when we win, yet when he plays bad and we lose .....it's the teams fault.

our passes dont need to be getting any softer

Our passes need to be accurate and they needed to be cradled...if Carbo gave them the Gordon Bombay treatment. They would learn to cradle it looked like they have bricks for hands...someone would pass it and the puck would bounce off the persons stick and they would chase it...it was the first game this season i can honestly say they played bad but i think they will bounce back and tuesdays game they are gonna make us all shut up.

A rather disappointing end to our point streak but what can you do? We were bound to have a regulation loss eventually and the rangers were bound to win one eventually as well. I look forward to see Halak get his first start of the season in Long Island.

They've played some pretty awful games though. (Detriot for instance)

They better get used to this the rest of the way. There are a lot of teams in the playoff hunt and many will play like the Rangers did last night because they will be up against the wall and need the points. The Rangers played like it was a playoff game. They were skating hard and hitting everything.

I was in Boston and New York for both games and last night was a completely different team on the ice. However credit must be given to the Rangers who played a heck of a game.. Lundqvist especially. I wish I can give credit to both teams' fans too but they were just brutal. No class and no respect whatsoever, should be banned from all games IMO.

LCN is reporting that some Habs partied too hard the night before that is why they played so bad on Saturday.

My spin - after a cooling down period!

It will all boil down to -Who wants it most and Who is prepared better. There are 37 games left people, we better get used to a few more loses! It's just my opinion that the effort wasn't there but it's going to happen. The Rangers aren't Slouches! However - I'm going TEAM on this one.

Same here Rock. We have to be realistic that we won't win them all and that the team will come out flat at times. But we have to give credit to the Rangers this game, they came ready to play.

"They played a really good game, but we just didn't respond," Canadiens coach Guy Carbonneau said. "Our focus wasn't there, our passing was horrendous, we didn't skate with the puck, we didn't put the puck in the right place, and when the puck was there we just didn't battle for it."

As bad as it was, it won't cost the Canadiens their scheduled day off Sunday in New York before they face the Islanders on Tuesday.

"We didn't book any ice, and it's not too easy to find ice in New York," Carbonneau said.

Sometimes silent reflection is better than physical atonement.
