Guest JL
I know, I thought this thread was buried for good when it ended up on the second page two days ago and then, kaboom, it's back On the negative side, people bringing up the negative when everything is so positive! Guest GreekHockeyCoach
My negative comment has nothing to do with the Habs, but rather the SOB getting away with blind-siding our man Markov, what's the deal refs? When there's blood on the ice and the guy can't get to his skates and all of this occurs AWAY from the play something "outside of the rules" must have happened Here's the culprit that brought back the negative thread However, it had nothing to do with the Habs as he states
fourtrax
A small negative: we are relying on our PP to win games again. I'd like to see more even-strength production.

I am invading the negative thread with some positive when it comes to this matter !!! While it might be a percieved negative (and something I do agree, we have to be cautious not to rely on our PP) it could be a very big positive. During this stretch drive (and into the playoffs) the 5 on 5 play will undoubtably tighten up and it will be more of a special teams game. 5 on 5 scoring will go down like it does every year, and has already shown tendencies of going in that direction all around the league. Our great PP is going to become even more important from here on in.

My feeling is that in the playoffs at least, the officials tend to call less penalties, and so we will have fewer opportunities to win games with our PP, and that's when even-strength production is going to become crucial. Even if they call less penalties, if we continue with a 1 in 4 efficiency, it will be huge for us in tight games.

And a part of that solution is just up from Hamilton. Just wait 3-4 weeks for him (Grabovski) to acclimatize.

Guest Ricochet
I had to pop in and see what possible reason this thread had for being posted in. As far as relying on the power play, that just happens to be the best way to beat the trap. Play disciplined hockey and keep them back on their toes until they make an error and get sent off so we have the room to make plays. The scores haven't been close enough to worry about it. I don't think we've won a game otherwise out of the last 4 with just our powerplay. (Not sure) I think you can eliminate our PP goals and allow the other team theirs and we still win or at least go to OT.
Guest montreal_myk
Ok fine, i'm not usually the negative type. Although it's starting to get to me, that every game i've been to this year resulted in a loss. i have actually given up my tickets for the game vs rangers where we made the comeback (duhhhh... although) if i was there, we wouldn't have completed the comeback. gave up my tickets to the devils this weekend, and we won again, i actually might be the biggest hab fan who's bad luck. drove to ottawa twice this year, and once to buffalo. ended in losses. Nine total games and i haven't seen one win this year. everytime the habs are trailing, i get an overflow of texts from friends and my family asking me if i went to the game..... very funny. oh ONE MORE COMPLAINT...(i'm getting used to this complaint thing) I'm sick of being at the games (yes the same games where we keep losing) here in montreal, and when we're losing, everyone;s starts heckling at ryder and koivu and then cheers for guimauve latendresse. let's not forget how awesome they were for us in the past., they've had a bad year. ryder's been better lately and koivu just needs to get over his slump. but his heart is awesome. why are we playing guy laten-dresse. he really doesn't belong in the nhl. not yet. he's not as good as everyone makes him out to be. i mean i really think that dandenault should be in his place. he's just as big, faster and has more skill. ok done. cross your fingers... going to the game vs devils march 11th.if we don't win, i'll stay away from the bell center until we win the cup although i bought a brick with my name on it for the centennial. THEY DON'T TAKE REFUNDS. so i'll be there all the time, in a way, starting next year. i wonder if i can hire a guy to shovel snow off my brick everyday. any takers??? Guest Ricochet
I want him to start playing rougher so I can call him Guillotine. So far he's been playing around butter knife status. He might have reached safety scissors over the last couple of games, a couple of hits and a brief fight. If he isn't going to play rough, he can also earn the name by pocketing some game winners, but he really hasn't been producing enough for that. Guest montreal_myk
NOT making fun of a french name. the first time i heard his name, i asked my girlfriend if his name meant marshmallow... she didn't answer, she just looked at me with pity like i am mentally challenged. anyways, the name stuck. making fun of the guy, not the name. oh and it cost me 450$ for my brick in the logo. will be payin that off for a while. Careful. 'Making fun' of a Habs player is coming close to violating the Code of Conduct here. Offer constructive criticism all you want, but stay away from the jokes about Latendresse's name.
