Guest GreekHockeyCoach
The thing that was more painful about tonight's game was that we should have won that freakin' game when we came back from behind. And a win would have put us in the first spot rather than ending 5th after tonight's game. The home advantage is something we must fight for as much as for the division title, something we didn't win since 1992! Another thing which I complained for almost all year is that we never went for heads on star opposition players when we are losing the game hard. I was wishing to see somebody enter the Scott Stevens club and smash Malkin's lights out (i.e. hit-on-Eric-Lindros style). I have enough of that fair-play mentality when Bettman is there; BTW, are there people from the media ready to kick our player out of town if he ever lays down a Stevens-style hit or something even dirtier on a star player from the other team? You can also look at last night's game as a learning experience. All the players are aware, as they stated in the press conference, that they need to play better defense. This run and gun style is fine when you're behind but in general they have to play better defensively and they are all aware of that now. It was a good wake-up call. I watched the game and was frustrated with the first period and the effort given by the team. They appeared to be a little sluggish and a step behind. The inability to protect the goal is definately a problem if we expect to win those close games. More close games are on the way with the playoffs around the corner. Carbo needs to bring them back to earth, probably in practice.

Nothing like a good team meeting and a hard practice to remind the guys that there are other games/days to play!!

Should of worked after the game with the Rangers. However last night showed they are not invincible and cannot play "fire wagon hockey" as a norm to win. Guest overlords
1) Higgins is still hollow man IMO 2) lats apparently has no legs the way he's skating 3) i saw WAY too much smolinski and dandenault yesterday in the 2 first periods. 4) dandenault 5) there's a slight chance that huet will pull a souray on poor old gainey because he hasn't been resigned yet. Higgins scored, Dandenault played one of his better games, Lats had good control of the puck and Huet was unlucky
Guest GreekHockeyCoach
For the first time this season, I was frustrated with the effort tonight. Not angry or mad or pissed off, just frustrated. I'll get over it though.

The boys didn't give an effort worthy of the boss, and don't seem to care about the freakin' first place when they should be when so close. THEY ARE NOT PAYING THE PRICE!!! ("Ils ne paient pas le prix!" to quote Richard Martel) Somebody MUST hammer into the boys' heads that first place is all that counts NOW and we won't satisfy for less than home ice advantage. I'm with you!! Why are the boys coming out with these lazy legs and empty heads. They are gliding around the ice during the game as if it was an afternoon skate or a pick up game. Also, the mental errors are creeping into the games. Just a frustrating situation to watch. Need to shake them up during the team meeting and have a hard skate (maybe no pucks or drills)!!! Guest jennifer_rocket
1) Christopher Higgins was a "no-show". 2) Carey Price let in an awful soft goal. 3) We couldn't score once on Leclaire. 4) Tomas Plekanec appears to be running out of steam. 5) Tom Kostopoulos still can't fight. Guest FunkyOne
haha you placing that in this thread made me laugh for some reason. ditto! Negative? Well I think if we'd kept Huet, Halak would've bolted to Europe so I guess that's not a negative. If we had a #4 Defensman it would've been great. Huet to COL for Liles would've been good. So I guess my negative remark about today: "Gainey panicked and traded a valuable asset for a mediocre pick"
